كشف جوسيب ماريا أوروبيتج، وكيل أعمال مدرب مانشستر سيتي السابق بيب غوارديولا، سبب رفض موكله العرض المقدم من الاتحاد الإيطالي لكرة القدم لتولي القيادة الفنية لمنتخب «الآزوري».
كانت تقارير صحفية قد ذكرت أن غوارديولا رفض تدريب إيطاليا لأسباب شخصية تتعلق بحاجته إلى الحصول على فترة راحة والبقاء برفقة عائلته، بعد رحيله عن مانشستر سيتي، إلى جانب أسباب رياضية مرتبطة بطبيعة المشروع.
«التوقيت» وراء رفض غوارديولا
وقال أوروبيتج في تصريح خاص إلى «عكاظ»: «غوارديولا رفض تدريب إيطاليا لأنه يرى أن التوقيت الحالي غير مناسب لتولي هذه المهمة، الأمر لا يتعلق بالمشروع أو الراتب».
مسيرة أسطورية مع السيتي
وقضى غوارديولا 10 مواسم على رأس القيادة الفنية لمانشستر سيتي، حقق خلالها 20 لقباً، وكان أبرز إنجازاته قيادة الفريق للتتويج بلقب دوري أبطال أوروبا عام 2023 للمرة الأولى في تاريخ النادي، إضافة إلى حصد لقب الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز 6 مرات.
ورغم مسيرته الحافلة بالإنجازات مع برشلونة وبايرن ميونخ ومانشستر سيتي، لم يسبق للمدرب الإسباني أن أشرف على تدريب أي منتخب وطني خلال مسيرته التدريبية.
Josep Maria Orobitg, the agent of former Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, revealed the reason why his client rejected the offer from the Italian Football Federation to take over as head coach of the "Azzurri".
Media reports had indicated that Guardiola declined to coach Italy for personal reasons related to his need for a break and to be with his family after leaving Manchester City, in addition to sporting reasons linked to the nature of the project.
"Timing" behind Guardiola's refusal
Orobitg stated in a special comment to "Okaz": "Guardiola rejected coaching Italy because he believes the current timing is not suitable for taking on this task; it is not about the project or the salary."
Legendary career with City
Guardiola spent 10 seasons at the helm of Manchester City, during which he won 20 titles, with his most notable achievement being leading the team to win the UEFA Champions League title in 2023 for the first time in the club's history, in addition to winning the Premier League title 6 times.
Despite his illustrious career filled with achievements at Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, the Spanish coach has never managed any national team during his coaching career.
