وعد المدرب الوطني خالد العطوي الجماهير السعودية بصناعة منتخب مشرّف، في حال تنصيبه مدرباً لـ«الأخضر» بدلاً من المدرب الفرنسي رينارد الذي يتعرض لانتقادات لاذعة لعدم قدرته على الاستقرار على تشكيلة ثابتة في المباراتين الوديتين اللتين خاضهما «الأخضر» خلال معسكره الإعدادي الجاري استعداداً للمشاركة في كأس العالم 2026، وخسرهما أمام المنتخبين المصري والصربي.
وقال العطوي: «بإمكان المدرب الاستقرار على أسماء معينة وتجهيزهم بشكل لائق للمباريات الودية بدلاً من الـ50 لاعباً الذين اختارهم».
جاء ذلك خلال برنامج «دورينا غير»، وأضاف العطوي: «باستطاعتي تسمية القائمة الرئيسية في حال تنصيبي مدرباً للأخضر وسترون منتخباً مشرفاً».
يذكر أن المنتخب السعودي، خسر من نظيره الصربي بنتيجة (2-1)، في المباراة الودية التي جمعتهما في مدينة بلغراد الصربية، ضمن معسكره الإعدادي الجاري استعداداً للمشاركة في كأس العالم 2026 وافتتح «الأخضر» التسجيل مبكراً عن طريق عبدالله الحمدان عند الدقيقة الثامنة، قبل أن يدرك منتخب صربيا التعادل في الشوط الثاني عبر ستراهينيا بافلوفيتش في الدقيقة (66)، ثم أضاف ألكسندر ميتروفيتش هدف التقدم في الدقيقة (70).
وشهدت المباراة أفضلية نسبية لمنتخب صربيا في مجريات الشوط الثاني من حيث الاستحواذ وصناعة الفرص، في حين اعتمد المنتخب السعودي على التنظيم الدفاعي والهجمات المرتدة، دون أن يتمكن من تعديل النتيجة في الدقائق المتبقية.
وتأتي هذه المواجهة ضمن برنامج إعداد المنتخب السعودي؛ بهدف رفع الجاهزية الفنية والبدنية، ومنح الجهاز الفني الفرصة لتجربة عدد من العناصر قبل الاستحقاقات الرسمية القادمة.
The national coach Khalid Al-Otaibi promised Saudi fans to create a distinguished national team, should he be appointed as the coach of the "Green" instead of the French coach Renard, who is facing severe criticism for his inability to settle on a stable lineup in the two friendly matches that the "Green" played during its current training camp in preparation for participating in the 2026 World Cup, losing both matches against the Egyptian and Serbian teams.
Al-Otaibi said: "The coach can settle on certain names and prepare them adequately for the friendly matches instead of the 50 players he has chosen."
This came during the program "Dourina Ghair," and Al-Otaibi added: "I can name the main squad if I am appointed as the coach of the Green, and you will see a distinguished team."
It is worth mentioning that the Saudi national team lost to its Serbian counterpart with a score of (2-1) in the friendly match held in Belgrade, Serbia, as part of its current training camp in preparation for participating in the 2026 World Cup. The "Green" opened the scoring early through Abdullah Al-Hamdan in the eighth minute, before the Serbian team equalized in the second half through Strahinja Pavlovic in the (66th) minute, and then Aleksandar Mitrovic added the leading goal in the (70th) minute.
The match saw a relative advantage for the Serbian team in the second half in terms of possession and creating chances, while the Saudi team relied on defensive organization and counter-attacks, without being able to equalize in the remaining minutes.
This match is part of the Saudi national team's preparation program, aimed at enhancing technical and physical readiness, and giving the coaching staff the opportunity to test several players before the upcoming official commitments.
