افتتح رئيس جمهورية إيطاليا سيرجيو ماتاريلا دورة الألعاب الأولمبية الشتوية الـ25 ميلانو-كورتينا 2026، وذلك خلال حفل الافتتاح الرسمي الذي أُقيم على ملعب سان سيرو بمدينة ميلانو، بحضور رئيسة مجلس الوزراء الإيطالي جورجيا ميلوني، ووزير الرياضة رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية الأمير عبدالعزيز بن تركي بن فيصل، ونائب رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية الأمير فهد بن جلوي بن عبدالعزيز بن مساعد، وسفير خادم الحرمين الشريفين لدى إيطاليا الأمير فيصل بن سطام بن عبدالعزيز، وعضو مجلس إدارة اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية أضواء بنت عبدالرحمن العريفي، ورئيسة اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية كيرستي كوفنتري، ورئيس اللجنة البارالمبية الدولية أندرو بارسونز، إلى جانب عدد كبير من رؤساء الدول والحكومات، وقادة المنظمات الدولية، وأعضاء الحركة الأولمبية من مختلف دول العالم.
وشهد حفل الافتتاح تقديم عروض فنية وموسيقية مميزة عكست الإرث التاريخي والثقافي لجمهورية إيطاليا، إلى جانب طابور عرض الدول المشاركة في هذه النسخة من الألعاب الأولمبية الشتوية، إيذاناً بانطلاق المنافسات الرسمية للدورة.
وتشرف لاعب المنتخب السعودي للتزلج الريفي راكان علي رضا برفع علم المملكة في حفل الافتتاح، في لحظة وطنية جسدت الحضور السعودي المتنامي في المحافل الأولمبية العالمية.
من جانبه، عبر راكان علي رضا عن فخره واعتزازه بحمل علم المملكة في هذا الحدث الأولمبي الكبير، مؤكداً أن هذه اللحظة تمثل شرفاً ومسؤولية وطنية، وحلماً يراود كل رياضي، متطلعاً إلى تقديم مشاركة مشرّفة تعكس تطور الرياضة السعودية وحضورها المتزايد على الساحة الأولمبية الشتوية.
يُذكر أن الدورة تشهد مشاركة أكثر من 2900 رياضي ورياضية يمثلون ما يزيد على 90 لجنة أولمبية وطنية من مختلف دول العالم، يتنافسون في 16 رياضة أولمبية شتوية ضمن برنامج يشمل أكثر من 100 مسابقة ميدالية.
من جهة أخرى، التقى وزير الرياضة رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية نائب رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية خيراردو ويرثن في مقر إقامته في ميلانو، بحضور نائب رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية.
وجرى خلال اللقاء بحث سبل تعزيز التعاون المشترك بين اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية واللجنة الأولمبية الدولية في ظل قيادتها الجديدة، إلى جانب مناقشة تفعيل دور المملكة في دعم برامج ومبادرات اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية حول العالم.
The President of the Republic of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, inaugurated the 25th Winter Olympic Games Milano-Cortina 2026 during the official opening ceremony held at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, in the presence of the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, the Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Prince Fahd bin Jiluwi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaid, the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Italy Prince Faisal bin Sattam bin Abdulaziz, a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Awdah bint Abdulrahman Al-Arefi, the President of the International Olympic Committee Kirsty Coventry, and the President of the International Paralympic Committee Andrew Parsons, along with a large number of heads of state and governments, leaders of international organizations, and members of the Olympic movement from various countries around the world.
The opening ceremony featured distinctive artistic and musical performances that reflected the historical and cultural heritage of the Republic of Italy, alongside a parade of the participating countries in this edition of the Winter Olympic Games, signaling the start of the official competitions of the event.
Saudi national team skier Rakan Ali Rida had the honor of raising the Kingdom's flag at the opening ceremony, in a national moment that embodied Saudi Arabia's growing presence in global Olympic arenas.
For his part, Rakan Ali Rida expressed his pride and honor in carrying the Kingdom's flag at this grand Olympic event, affirming that this moment represents a national honor and responsibility, as well as a dream cherished by every athlete, looking forward to presenting a commendable participation that reflects the development of Saudi sports and its increasing presence on the winter Olympic stage.
It is noteworthy that the event witnesses the participation of more than 2,900 male and female athletes representing over 90 national Olympic committees from various countries around the world, competing in 16 Olympic winter sports within a program that includes more than 100 medal events.
On another note, the Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee met with the Vice President of the International Olympic Committee, Gerardo Werthein, at his residence in Milan, in the presence of the Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
During the meeting, ways to enhance joint cooperation between the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee under its new leadership were discussed, along with discussions on activating the Kingdom's role in supporting the International Olympic Committee's programs and initiatives worldwide.
