وشهدت المباراة مشاركة ثلاثة لاعبين من دوري روشن السعودي ضمن التشكيلة الأساسية لمنتخب «أسود التيرانغا»، وهم الحارس إدوارد ميندي (الأهلي)، والمدافع خاليدو كوليبالي (الهلال)، والمهاجم ساديو ماني (النصر).
هدف حسم المواجهة
وجاء هدف اللقاء الوحيد عن طريق إليمان ندياي في الدقيقة 27، مستغلاً خطأ فادحاً من حارس مرمى منتخب مالي، ليمنح منتخب بلاده أفضلية مبكرة حافظ عليها حتى صافرة النهاية.

وتلقى منتخب مالي ضربة موجعة قبل نهاية الشوط الأول، بعد طرد لاعبه إيف بيسوما إثر حصوله على البطاقة الصفراء الثانية، ليكمل المباراة بـ10 لاعبين.
وينتظر منتخب السنغال في الدور نصف النهائي الفائز من مواجهة مصر وكوت ديفوار، المقررة غداً لسبت، وفي حال تأهل المنتخب المصري، سيكون اللقاء إعادة لنهائي نسخة 2021 بالكاميرون، الذي حسمه المنتخب السنغالي بركلات الترجيح.
