The Egyptian star Mohamed Salah achieved a historic milestone after scoring a decisive goal in his country's victory over Zimbabwe with a score of two to one, the day before yesterday (Monday) in the opening round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco.

Salah scored his goal in the 90+1 minute, with a precise shot inside the penalty area, giving the Egyptian team their first victory in the continental tournament.

First Egyptian to Score in 5 Editions

According to the Egyptian Football Association's account on Facebook, Salah became the first Egyptian player to score in five consecutive editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, having found the net in the 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025 tournaments.

It is worth noting that Salah's goal against Zimbabwe is his eighth in 20 matches he has played in the history of the tournament.

The Egyptian national team is the most decorated in the Africa Cup of Nations with a total of 7 titles, with the last victory occurring in 2010 under the legendary coach Hassan Shehata.
