نجح فريق نابولي في الوصول إلى المباراة النهائية لكأس السوبر الإيطالي، عقب تفوقه على خصمه فريق إيه سي ميلان بهدفين نظيفين، في المواجهة التي أقيمت مساء الخميس 18 ديسمبر على ملعب الأول بارك، ضمن منافسات الحدث العالمي المُقام بتنظيم وإشراف وزارة الرياضة، للمرة السادسة على أرض المملكة.
وافتتح البرازيلي ديفيد نيريس التسجيل لصالح نابولي مع تبقي 5 دقائق على نهاية الشوط الأول، الذي استحوذ فيه إيه سي ميلان على الكرة، ولكن كانت فيه الفرص الأخطر من نصيب نابولي، ومنها كرة الدنماركي راسموس هويلاند مع نهاية الشوط، التي تألق في إنقاذها حارس مرمى إيه سي ميلان وقائده الفرنسي مايك مانيان.
وفي الشوط الثاني، نجح الدنماركي راسموس هويلاند في تعزيز تقدم فريقه في الدقيقة 63، بعد مجهود فردي مميز، لتستمر سيطرة إيه سي ميلان على الكرة، ومحاولة لاعبيه العودة في النتيجة، إلاّ أن دفاعات نابولي كانت على الموعد وأوقفت خطورة الهجمات طوال فترة النصف الثاني من اللقاء.
