كشفت صحيفة «ذا صن البريطانية»، أن الملعب الذي تعمل المملكة على إنشائه هو ملعب الأمير محمد بن سلمان، ضمن مشروع مدينة القدية الترفيهية قرب الرياض، وليس في نيوم كما أشيع، إذ سيقام على ارتفاع 200 متر فوق منحدر جبلي، وليس على قمة ناطحة سحاب. ووفقا لشركة القدية للاستثمار QIC، التابعة لصندوق الاستثمارات العامة السعودي، سيعد الملعب من «أكثر المنشآت الرياضية تطورا في المنطقة»، إذ يتسع لنحو 45 ألف متفرج، ويتميز بوجود سقف وملعب قابلين للطي، إلى جانب شاشة LED ضخمة تمتد لمئات الأمتار لتمنح الجماهير تجربة تفاعلية بانورامية مطلة على مدينة الرياض، بحسب صحيفة «ذا غارديان» البريطانية.
ويهدف المشروع إلى «إعادة تعريف مفهوم الملاعب الرياضية التقليدية»، ويتوقع أن يصبح المقر المستقبلي لناديي النصر أو الهلال، إضافة إلى كونه أحد الملاعب الرئيسية ضمن استعدادات السعودية لاستضافة كأس العالم 2034، وفق التقرير الذي بثه موقع الـ«RT».
وبينما لم تصدر الجهات الرسمية السعودية أي تأكيد حول صحة هذه التصاميم، يرى مراقبون أن انتشار مثل هذه التصورات يعكس الطموح السعودي في تطوير مشاريع رياضية ومعمارية غير مسبوقة استعدادا للبطولات العالمية القادمة.
وكانت المملكة كشفت العام الماضي 15 تصميما مقترحا لملاعب عالية التقنية، لتلبية متطلبات البطولة القادمة، بالتوازي مع استعدادها لاستضافة كأس آسيا 2027.
The British newspaper "The Sun" revealed that the stadium the Kingdom is working on building is Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, part of the Qiddiya entertainment city project near Riyadh, and not in Neom as rumored. It will be located 200 meters above a mountain slope, not on top of a skyscraper. According to Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC), which is affiliated with the Saudi Public Investment Fund, the stadium will be one of "the most advanced sports facilities in the region," with a capacity of around 45,000 spectators. It features a retractable roof and field, along with a massive LED screen that extends for hundreds of meters to provide fans with a panoramic interactive experience overlooking the city of Riyadh, according to the British newspaper "The Guardian."
The project aims to "redefine the concept of traditional sports stadiums," and it is expected to become the future home of either Al-Nassr or Al-Hilal clubs, in addition to being one of the main stadiums in Saudi Arabia's preparations to host the 2034 World Cup, according to a report broadcast by the "RT" website.
While no official Saudi authorities have confirmed the validity of these designs, observers believe that the spread of such visions reflects Saudi ambition to develop unprecedented sports and architectural projects in preparation for upcoming global championships.
Last year, the Kingdom revealed 15 proposed designs for high-tech stadiums to meet the requirements of the upcoming tournament, alongside its preparations to host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
