خطف فريق الشباب فوزاً صعباً من أمام الحزم بهدف دون رد، وتأهل للدور ربع النهائي من البطولة الأغلى كأس الملك، وجاء هدف الشباب الوحيد من ركلة جزاء سجلها البلجيكي يانيك كاراسكو، بعد مرور نصف ساعة من عمر المباراة، وذلك في اللقاء الذي جرى الثلاثاء، على ملعب إس إتش جي أرينا بالرياض .
وفرض فريق الشباب سيطرته على معظم مجريات الشوط الأول وهدد مرمى الحزم قبل أن يحصل على ركلة جزاء نفذها البلجيكي يانيك كاراسكو على يمين سعد الصالح حارس الحزم كهدف أول للشباب، وفي الوقت المحتسب بدل الضائع كان الزلفي قريباً من التعادل لولا براعة الحارس البرازيلي مارسيلو غروهي الذي تصدى لكرة يحيى خرمي وأنهى خطورتها .
وشهد الشوط الثاني محاولات من فريق الشباب لتعزيز التقدم وتأمين النتيجة عن طريق أخطر اللاعبين في فريق الشباب كاراسكو الذي نفذ ركلة حرة مباشرة وقف لها الحارس سعد الصالح ببراعة، ولاحت فرصة خطيرة للحزم عندما تلقى ماهر المطيري كرة خاطئة من الدفاع الشبابي داخل منطقة الجزاء، صوبها بجوار القائم مهدراً هدفاً محققاً لفريق الحزم، وفي الوقت المحتسب بدل الضائع حدثت اشباكات بين بعض لاعبي الفريقين، أسفرت عن خروج البطاقة الحمراء للاعبين عبدالرحمن الهاجري من الزلفي ومحمد حربوش من الشباب.
