يرى المدرب الوطني إبراهيم العمري أن الأفضلية الفنية كانت لصالح الاتحاد من حيث السيطرة الميدانية على مجريات المباراة، خصوصاً شوط المباراة الأول، على الرغم من تقدم الهلال بالنتيجة بهدف عكسي حمل توقيع لاعب الاتحاد دومبيا.
وأضاف العمري: كان ينقص الفريق الاتحادي التصويب على المرمى، الذي كان غائباً، باستثناء محاولات معدودة شكلت خطورة حقيقية على المرمى الهلالي وكادت تتسبب في ولوج هدف اتحادي. وأكد العمري أن الكلاسيكو شهد انضباطاً تكتيكياً من نجوم الاتحاد بالتعليمات من مدرب الفريق، وهو الأمر الذي أسهم في ظهور فريق الاتحاد يلعب ككتلة واحدة، والفريق أظهر شخصية فنية مميزة داخل الملعب هجومياً ودفاعياً، وكانت رغبة الفريق واضحة في تحقيق الفوز وهذا افتقدناه في مباريات سابقة مثل مباراة النصر وأهلي دبي الإماراتي ضمن دوري أبطال آسيا للأندية النخبة.
وختم العمري حديثه بقوله: «فوز الهلال على الاتحاد كان نتيجة ارتباك واضح على حارس الفريق الشاب حامد الشنقيطي، ولا يلام كون المباراة تضم عناصر عالمية ومستوى الحدث أكبر، وتعتبر شجاعة من مدرب الاتحاد كونسيساو في منحه فرصة اللعب بمثل هذه المواجهات القوية التي بكل تأكيد ستسهم في رفع مخزون الثقة وزيادة الخبرة لكسب حارس متمكن في المستقبل القريب».
