توفي مدرب حراس مرمى المنتخب العراقي لكرة الصالات البرازيلي مارسيلو غالينا مساء السبت، إثر سقوطه من الطابق الثالث في جامعة آشور، أثناء تدريبات للمنتخب، تحضيراً لتصفيات كأس آسيا، المقررة في السعودية الشهر الجاري.
وذكر مصدر أن «غالينا سقط أثناء تدريبات منتخب العراق لكرة الصالات من الطابق الثالث في قاعة الرياضة بجامعة آشور نتيجة انزلاق قدمه من الممر العلوي المطل على القاعة».
وأضاف أن «اللاعب مهند عبد الهادي حاول الإسراع بالإمساك بيد المدرب لكنه لم يلحق به ليسقط على رأسه».
وقال عضو الاتحاد العراقي لكرة القدم محمد ناصر لوسائل الإعلام: «فوجئنا بالحادث الذي تعرض له مدرب حراس مرمى منتخب العراق لكرة الصالات من سقوط في قاعة جامعة آشور أثناء التدريبات».
وأوضح أنه «وفقاً لما ذكره لنا مدير منتخب كرة الصالات علي عيسى مع الكادر المتواجد هناك، كان مدرب الحراس يقوم بتصوير حراس المرمى من أعلى القاعة لكن وللأسف كانت هناك فتحة لم ينتبه إليها المدرب فانزلقت قدمه وسقط إلى أسفل القاعة».
ووفقاً للحاضرين في قاعة التدريب، فإن مدرب حراس المرمى كان يؤدي عمله بعد الحصة التدريبية عبر القيام بتصوير حراس المرمى وهم يؤدون تمارينهم لتقييمهم فنياً في ما بعد، وذلك من الشرفة المطلة على القاعة في الطابق الثالث، بيد أن قدم غالينا انزلقت في الممر الفاصل من الشرفة العليا وسقط بشكل مفاجئ.
وحاول الجهاز الطبي لمنتخب العراق الإسراع بإيصال غالينا إلى مستشفى الكرامة القريب من قاعة جامعة آشور، بجانب الكرخ في العاصمة بغداد، لكنه لفظ أنفاسه الأخيرة وفارق الحياة.
وتعاقد الاتحاد العراقي مع غالينا في أغسطس الماضي إلى جانب مواطنه مدرب العراق جواو كارلوس باربوسا.
The Brazilian goalkeeper coach of the Iraqi national futsal team, Marcelo Galina, passed away on Saturday evening after falling from the third floor at Ashur University during a training session for the team, in preparation for the Asian Cup qualifiers scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia this month.
A source mentioned that "Galina fell during the training of the Iraqi futsal team from the third floor of the sports hall at Ashur University due to his foot slipping from the upper corridor overlooking the hall."
He added that "player Mohannad Abdul Hadi tried to rush to grab the coach's hand, but he couldn't reach him, and he fell on his head."
Mohammad Nasser, a member of the Iraqi Football Association, told the media: "We were surprised by the incident that the goalkeeper coach of the Iraqi futsal team faced when he fell in the hall of Ashur University during training."
He clarified that "according to what the futsal team manager, Ali Issa, and the staff present there told us, the goalkeeper coach was filming the goalkeepers from the top of the hall, but unfortunately, there was an opening that the coach did not notice, causing his foot to slip and fall to the bottom of the hall."
According to those present in the training hall, the goalkeeper coach was performing his duties after the training session by filming the goalkeepers as they practiced to evaluate them technically later, from the balcony overlooking the hall on the third floor. However, Galina's foot slipped in the dividing corridor of the upper balcony, and he fell suddenly.
The medical staff of the Iraqi national team rushed to get Galina to Al-Karama Hospital, which is near Ashur University Hall, in the Karkh area of Baghdad, but he took his last breaths and passed away.
The Iraqi Federation had contracted with Galina last August, alongside his compatriot, Iraq's coach Joao Carlos Barbosa.
