أصبح فريق الأهلي على بُعد مباراة واحدة فقط من معادلة الرقم القياسي لأطول سلسلة «لا هزيمة» في تاريخ دوري أبطال آسيا، والذي يملكه فريق أولسان إتش دي الكوري الجنوبي (أولسان هيونداي سابقاً) بـ21 مباراة متتالية من دون خسارة.
وسيكون لقاء الأهلي أمام الغرافة القطري في دوري أبطال آسيا لأندية النخبة حاسماً، إذ إن تفادي الخسارة يعني معادلة الرقم الآسيوي التاريخي، بعدما عادل الفريق بالفعل الرقم المحلي المُسجّل باسم الهلال، برصيد 20 مباراة متتالية بلا هزيمة.
ويعود تاريخ آخر خسارة آسيوية للأهلي إلى نسخة 2021، عندما سقط أمام الاستقلال الإيراني بنتيجة 5–2 في دور المجموعات. ومنذ ذلك الحين، خاض الفريق 20 مباراة، خرج منها بـ 15 انتصاراً و5 تعادلات، ليؤكد حضوره القوي قارياً، واقترابه من كتابة صفحة جديدة في تاريخ البطولة.
