تكبد منتخب ألمانيا هزيمة تاريخية أمام مضيفه السلوفاكي، بهدفين دون رد، في المباراة التي جمعتهما مساء الخميس في الجولة الافتتاحية من تصفيات أوروبا المؤهلة إلى كأس العالم 2026.
تعد هذه الهزيمة الأولى في تاريخ الماكينات الألمانية خارج أرضها في مشاركاتها بتصفيات المونديال.
واستغل كل من ديفيد هانكو وديفيد ستريليتش أخطاء دفاع منتخب ألمانيا، ليمنحا سلوفاكيا التقدم بهدفين في الدقيقتين 42 و55، ولم يتمكن المنتخب الألماني من اختراق دفاعات أصحاب الأرض للعودة إلى أجواء المباراة.
وانتقد مدرب ألمانيا يوليان ناغلسمان، فريقه بشدة عقب الخسارة، واصفاً إياه بأنه يفتقر إلى «الروح المعنوية» في الملعب وإرادة الفوز ضد منافسين غير مرشحين ولكنهم متحمسون، كما تساءل عما إذا كان ينبغي عليه اختيار لاعبين أقل مهارة ولكنهم أكثر تفانياً.
