في خطوة تعكس اهتمام النجم الأرجنتيني ليونيل ميسي بالقضايا البيئية والإنسانية خارج المستطيل الأخضر، قام في ختام زيارته إلى الهند بجولة في مركز «فانتارا» لإنقاذ وتأهيل الحياة البرية. وجاءت هذه الزيارة في المحطة الختامية لجولة GOAT India Tour 2025، التي اختتمت رسميا في العاصمة نيودلهي، بعد أيام حافلة قضاها ميسي بين مومباي، وحيدر آباد، وكلكتا، وشملت أنشطة رياضية وجماهيرية متنوعة، وفق التقرير الذي بثه موقع «RT». ورافق ميسي قائد إنتر ميامي الأمريكي، خلال الزيارة، زميليه في إنتر ميامي لويس سواريز ورودريغو دي بول، حيث قام الثلاثي بجولة داخل المنشأة البيئية الضخمة التي أسسها أنانت أمباني، والتي تضم حيوانات نادرة تم إنقاذها من مختلف أنحاء العالم، من بينها الفيلة والنمور والزرافات والزواحف، إضافة إلى صغار الحيوانات التي تخضع لبرامج رعاية وتأهيل.
ووفقا لتقارير إعلامية هندية، قرر القائمون على مركز فانتارا تكريم ميسي بطريقة رمزية، عبر إطلاق اسم «ليونيل» على أحد الأشبال الموجودة في المركز، تقديرا لزيارته ودعمه لمشروع حماية الحياة البرية.
وكان ميسي حصل على فترة راحة عقب قيادته إنتر ميامي للتتويج بلقب الدوري الأمريكي للمرة الأولى في تاريخ النادي، مستغلا التوقف للقيام بهذه الجولة التي جذبت اهتماما جماهيريا وإعلاميا واسعا، رغم بعض الفوضى التنظيمية التي شهدتها بدايتها في كولكاتا.

During the visit, Messi was accompanied by his Inter Miami teammates Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul, as the trio toured the massive environmental facility established by Anant Ambani, which houses rare animals rescued from around the world, including elephants, tigers, giraffes, and reptiles, in addition to young animals undergoing care and rehabilitation programs.
According to Indian media reports, the officials at the Vantara center decided to honor Messi in a symbolic way by naming one of the cubs at the center "Lionel," in appreciation of his visit and support for the wildlife protection project.
Messi had taken a break after leading Inter Miami to win the American league title for the first time in the club's history, taking advantage of the break to embark on this tour, which attracted significant public and media attention, despite some organizational chaos that marked its beginning in Kolkata.
