تمسك منتخب أستراليا بطل كأس آسيا بآماله بالتأهل للدور الثاني لكأس العالم تحت 20 عاماً بعد فوزه على منتخب كوبا بنتيجة 3/ 1، فيما انتصر منتخب الأرجنتين متصدر المجموعة على وصيفه المنتخب الإيطالي بهدف دون مقابل وذلك في ختام لقاءات الجولة الثالثة للمجموعة الرابعة.
على ملعب سانتياغو، تفوق منتخب أستراليا على نظيره الكوبي بثلاثة أهداف لهدف، وأحرز أهداف أستراليا الثلاثة كل من: ماكس كابوتو هدفين (د: 21، 50)، دانيال بيني (د: 39)، فيما جاء هدف كوبا الوحيد عن طريق أليسيو رابالو (د: 63)، ليحقق منتخب أستراليا فوزه الأول ويقفز للمركز الثالث برصيد 3 نقاط ومنتظراً نتائج المجموعات الأخرى لتحديد تأهله للدور الثاني من عدمه، فيما تلقى منتخب كوبا خسارته الثانية وتجمد رصيده عند نقطة واحدة ليغادر المونديال.
وفي اللقاء الآخر، حقق منتخب الأرجنتين العلامة الكاملة في مجموعته بعد تفوقه على نظيره الإيطالي بهدف دون مقابل جاء عن طريق ديلان غوروسيتو (د: 74)، ليحتل منتخب الأرجنتين صدارة المجموعة برصيد 9 نقاط ويليه المنتخب الإيطالي برصيد 4 نقاط ليتأهلا للدور الثاني، وسيلتقي منتخب الأرجنتين مع أحد المنتخبات أصحاب المركز الثالث من المجموعات الثانية أو الخامسة أو السادسة، بينما ستواجه إيطاليا متصدر المجموعة الخامسة.
