تأهل منتخب الولايات المتحدة إلى ثمن النهائي بعد فوزه في الدقائق الأخيرة على نظيره المنتخب الفرنسي بثلاثة أهداف دون مقابل في كأس العالم تحت 20 سنة FIFA تشيلي 2025™. وجاءت الأهداف الثلاثة في الدقائق الخمس الأخيرة من عمر اللقاء الذي جمع بينهما على استاد آل تينينتي بتشيلي، وذلك ضمن لقاءات الجولة الثانية للمجموعة الخامسة.

المباراة شهدت شوطا أول متكافئا قليل الفرص، غير أن المنتخب الأمريكي ظهر بصورة أفضل في الشوط الثاني، حيث فرض إيقاعه وضغط بقوة على الدفاع الفرنسي، وكاد بنيامين كريماتشي أن يفتتح التسجيل بعد تمريرة من نيكو تساكيريس، لكن الحارس ليساندرو أولميتا أنقذ مرماه بتصدٍ رائع.
وشهدت الدقيقة 85 الهدف الأول عبر البديل زافير غوزو برأسية محكمة بعدما استغل عرضية من لوك برينان، قبل أن يعود غوزو ويصنع الهدف الثاني لزميله بروكلين راينز 88، فيما اختتم ماركوس زامبرانو الثلاثية في الوقت بدل الضائع (د: 90+2)، لينتهي اللقاء بفوز الولايات المتحدة بثلاثة أهداف دون مقابل.
وبذه النتيجة يحقق الولايات المتحدة فوزه الثاني ويصل للنقطة السادسة متصدراً منتخبات المجموعة ومتأهلاً لدور الـ 16، فيما تلقى منتخب فرنسا الخسارة الأولى وتجمد رصيده عند 3 نقاط.
