رفض البرتغالي فرناندو سانتوس، المُتوّج مع منتخب بلاده بلقب كأس أمم أوروبا 2016، عرضاً لتولي تدريب الفريق الأول لكرة القدم بالنادي الأهلي المصري.
وبحسب صحيفة «O Jogo» البرتغالية، فقد أوضح سانتوس، عند سؤاله عن عرض الأهلي، أنه لا يستطيع قبوله، مؤكداً أن أولويته الحالية هي العودة إلى اليونان لتولي تدريب فريق باناثينايكوس.
وأضافت الصحيفة أن سانتوس أغلق الباب أمام فكرة قيادة الأهلي، بعدما رفض العرض المٌقدم إليه يوم الإثنين الماضي، مفضلاً خلافة مواطنه روي فيتوريا في تدريب باناثينايكوس.
وكان النادي الأهلي قد أعلن، نهاية شهر أغسطس الماضي، إقالة المدرب الإسباني خوسيه ريبيرو من منصبه، وتكليف عماد النحاس بتولي المهمة بشكل مؤقت إلى حين التعاقد مع مدير فني أجنبي.
ويعيش الأهلي واحدة من أسوأ فتراته في تاريخه الحديث، إذ حقق فوزاً واحداً فقط في أول 6 جولات من الدوري المصري الممتاز، ليحتل المركز السادس عشر برصيد 6 نقاط.
The Portuguese Fernando Santos, who won the UEFA Euro 2016 title with his national team, has rejected an offer to coach the first team of Al Ahly SC in Egypt.
According to the Portuguese newspaper «O Jogo», Santos explained, when asked about the Al Ahly offer, that he cannot accept it, emphasizing that his current priority is to return to Greece to coach Panathinaikos.
The newspaper added that Santos has closed the door on the idea of leading Al Ahly after he rejected the offer presented to him last Monday, preferring to succeed his compatriot Rui Vitória as coach of Panathinaikos.
Al Ahly had announced at the end of August that they had dismissed Spanish coach José Ribeiro from his position and appointed Emad Nassar to take over temporarily until a foreign manager is contracted.
Al Ahly is experiencing one of the worst periods in its modern history, having achieved only one victory in the first 6 rounds of the Egyptian Premier League, placing them in sixteenth position with 6 points.
