The Matrouh Criminal Court, Second Circuit, issued a ruling today (Sunday) sentencing former Al Ahly player Ahmed Adel to three years in prison after he was convicted of causing permanent disability to a person during a violent altercation that took place in the coastal village of Marina in Matrouh Governorate in August 2024.

The court also sentenced the second defendant in the case, Mustafa M., to six months in prison for assaulting Ahmed Adel in retaliation for the incident.

The events began in August 2024, when a dispute erupted between Ahmed Adel's 14-year-old daughter and the sons of the second defendant, Mustafa M., in Marina, one of the most prominent tourist destinations on the North Coast during the summer.

According to the investigations, Mustafa M. attempted to mediate the dispute between his son and the former player's daughter, but the situation escalated when Ahmed Adel arrived at the scene.

According to the official report, Ahmed Adel assaulted Mustafa M., resulting in a fracture to his right ankle, which was later confirmed to have caused a permanent disability of 5% based on a medical report.

After the incident, both parties went to the Marina police station and filed mutual reports, with Ahmed Adel accusing the second defendant of verbally harassing his daughter, a serious allegation that sparked widespread controversy in media and sports circles, especially given Ahmed Adel's fame as a former player for Al Ahly.

The court acquitted Mustafa M. of the harassment charge, citing insufficient evidence and contradictions in witness statements.

In contrast, investigations proved that Ahmed Adel caused the serious injury, while Mustafa M. admitted to assaulting Ahmed Adel in retaliation.
