أعلن نادي الزمالك المصري، اليوم الجمعة، انتهاء مسيرة قائده محمد عبد الشافي مع الفريق رسمياً، بعد رحلة حافلة بالإنجازات والألقاب الجماعية.
وكتب حساب الزمالك على «فيسبوك»: «الانتماء والتاريخ، محمد عبد الشافي، القدوة والرمز، سيظل دائماً في قلوبنا. شكراً يا شيفو على كل لحظة كنت فيها قدوة بقميص الزمالك».
وكان عبد الشافي قد قرر اعتزال كرة القدم في الموسم الماضي، إلا أن أزمة الظهير الأيسر في الزمالك دفعته لتأجيل القرار لموسم إضافي، قبل أن يتعاقد «الفارس الأبيض» مع المغربي محمود بنتايك، وعودة أحمد فتوح للمشاركة.
وخاض عبد الشافي 218 مباراة بقميص الزمالك، سجل خلالها 11 هدفًا، وقدم 18 تمريرة حاسمة، وتوّج مع الفريق بعشرة ألقاب محلية وقارية.
كما خاض الظهير الأيسر المصري تجربتين احترافيتين في الدوري السعودي مع ناديي الأهلي والفتح، وتوّج مع «الراقي» بأربعة ألقاب.
The Egyptian club Zamalek announced today, Friday, the official end of its captain Mohamed Abdel Shafy’s journey with the team, after a career filled with achievements and collective titles.
Zamalek's account on Facebook wrote: “Belonging and history, Mohamed Abdel Shafy, the role model and symbol, will always remain in our hearts. Thank you, Shifo, for every moment you were a role model in the Zamalek jersey.”
Abdel Shafy had decided to retire from football last season, but a crisis with the left-back position at Zamalek led him to postpone the decision for an additional season, before the "White Knight" signed Moroccan Mahmoud Bintayk and Ahmed Fattouh returned to participate.
Abdel Shafy played 218 matches in the Zamalek jersey, scoring 11 goals and providing 18 assists, and he won ten local and continental titles with the team.
The Egyptian left-back also had two professional experiences in the Saudi league with the clubs Al-Ahli and Al-Fateh, winning four titles with the "Royal."
