The Yemeni Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Dr. Taher Al-Aqeeli, issued an official apology to the Yemeni tribes, following the warning issued by the Ministry of Defense's account regarding tribal gatherings yesterday (Thursday) October 22, 2026, confirming that what was stated was a "wrong and unacceptable statement," and that he has directed the relevant authorities to open an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding it.
The Tribes are the Pillar of Restoring the State
Al-Aqeeli emphasized that the authentic Arab Yemeni tribes represent the main support for the national project to restore the state, affirming that the armed forces cannot stand against the tribes, which have remained a key partner in the battle to restore state institutions.
He stated that the Houthi militia's attempt to exploit this mistake reflects its efforts to incite discord and create division between the Yemeni tribes and the armed forces, asserting that these attempts will not change the nature of the established relationship between the army and the tribes.
No Targeting of Tribal and Civil Gatherings
The Minister of Defense reiterated that the armed forces will not target any tribal or civil gatherings, including tribal gatherings for self-defense, stressing the army's commitment to international humanitarian law and its customary rules in all military operations.
The Tribe at the Forefront of the Confrontation
Al-Aqeeli affirmed that the Yemeni tribe will remain a fundamental support for the armed forces in the battle to restore the state, praising the sacrifices of its members who stand at the forefront and give their lives in the face of the Houthi militia.
He emphasized that the role of the tribes in the national battle is firmly established, and their sacrifices represent a fundamental pillar in the efforts to restore the state and end the control of the Houthi militia.
