The Rapid Support Forces continue to target power stations in Sudan. A military source announced that a long-range drone belonging to the RSF targeted, on Sunday, the main electricity transformer station in the Al-Dabba locality in the Northern State.
It was confirmed that the targeting resulted in the station being out of service and a complete power outage in the city. He pointed out that the airstrike also extended to include two fuel supply stations in the "Al-Mutalaqi" area located in the same locality.
Last week, an electrical station in the city of Managil in the Al-Jazeera State was targeted by a drone from the RSF.
Last week, the Rapid Support Forces launched a coordinated drone attack on five power stations, causing power outages in large areas of eastern Sudan, as the drones targeted two stations in Al-Qadarif State, two others in Al-Jazeera State, and a fifth station in White Nile State, "resulting in power outages in vast parts of the three states," which are under the army's control.
The United Nations has repeatedly warned that the repeated strikes on energy infrastructure threaten access to healthcare and essential services for millions of people at a time when the country is facing the world's most severe food crisis.
The war in Sudan erupted between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in mid-April 2023, leading to the displacement of more than 11.5 million people, amid a rising risk of famine, as more than 20 million Sudanese suffer from acute hunger, with about 33.7 million people (two-thirds of the population) in urgent need of humanitarian assistance to survive, according to UN estimates.
