U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed today (Tuesday) that things are going very well regarding Iran and that his country does not need any assistance.
Trump said: We are performing well regarding Iran, and we only have to make the final decision about how we want to win, adding that the rise in gasoline prices is actually a small price to pay, as we will not allow Iran to possess a nuclear weapon, and it will never have a nuclear weapon.
For his part, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told CNBC: Reaching an agreement with the Iranian regime is extremely difficult, explaining that the movement of ships and the flow of oil and energy through the Strait of Hormuz has reached between 80% and 100% of pre-war levels.
He pointed out that Iran is targeting commercial ships and trying to sink them and kill sailors who have nothing to do with the war, expressing his concern about the attacks on commercial navigation and urging Iran to stop them.
He added: We will continue to impose exceptional economic pressure on Iran until it stops targeting commercial navigation.
In contrast, Iranian President Masoud Bezhakian, in his meeting with Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir, who is visiting Tehran, stated: We understand that war is not in the interest of Iran, the region, or the world, nor even the United States, emphasizing his country's refusal to engage in negotiations with Washington while the sanctions intensify and the routes to Iran are closed.
He added: We have been and still are ready for dialogue, but the Americans must lift the threats and sanctions, expressing their lack of trust in the United States.
