The Yemeni Embassy in Egypt denied today (Sunday) that there are any criminal suspicions surrounding the death of the prominent Yemeni military official, Brigadier General Mohammed Ali Mahdi Hadi, known by the nickname "Socrates," inside a hotel in Aswan, southern Egypt.
The embassy clarified in a statement that initial investigations did not reveal any criminal suspicion, noting that they are awaiting the results of the final forensic report to determine the medical cause of death.
The embassy indicated that it is following the case through its representative in Aswan in coordination with the relevant Egyptian authorities, pledging to announce the results of the investigations as soon as they are completed.
Brigadier General Mohammed Ali Mahdi Hadi is considered one of the most prominent Yemeni military leaders who emerged in recent years. He was born in the Sheikh Othman district of the temporary capital, Aden, on February 3, 1984. He obtained a professional master's degree in business administration and a master's degree in public law from Aden University, along with a diploma in management sciences for officers and a diploma in international relations and diplomacy from the Military College of Officer Management Sciences in Egypt, according to Yemeni media.
Hadi's name notably emerged during the liberation of Aden in 2015, as he was at the forefront of the field leaders who faced the Houthi militia. He participated in battles in the Al-Basatin fronts in the Dar Saad district and held leadership roles as a military site commander and "Chief of Staff of the Mahdar Brigade."
