The Yemeni government strongly condemned today (Friday) the targeting of the Taif governorate by the Houthi militia with a drone that was destroyed, resulting in the death of a Yemeni citizen and the injury of two civilians, in addition to material damages.
The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed in a statement that the attack represents "a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom and a threat to its security and stability," noting that targeting Saudi cities and vital facilities, as well as attempting to target Mecca, reflects the dangerous aggressive approach of the Houthi militia.
The ministry stated that the Houthi attacks go beyond the borders of Yemen to threaten neighboring countries, sacred sites, and international navigation, accusing the Iranian regime of continuing to support the militia to serve its expansionist agenda at the expense of Yemen's sovereignty, the interests of its people, and the security and stability of the region.
The Yemeni government held the Houthi militia and the Iranian regime that supports it responsible for these attacks and their repercussions, reiterating Yemen's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for the legitimate measures taken by the Kingdom to deter the attacks and protect its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents on its territory.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to take a firm stance to stop the Houthi attacks, dry up the sources of funding for the militia, cut off supplies of weapons and Iranian military expertise to it, and implement relevant Security Council resolutions.
