رحب الرئيس اللبناني العماد جوزيف عون اليوم (الإثنين)، بـ«المبادرة الفرنسية والإيطالية لتشكيل قوة أوروبية تملأ الفراغ بعد انسحاب اليونيفيل»، مؤكداً أن لبنان مع التجديد للقوة الدولية في الجنوب التي يسعى الرئيس إيمانويل ماكرون لتسهيل ذلك.
وشدد عون خلال استقباله وزير العدل الفرنسي جيرارد دارمانين اليوم بحضور وزير العدل عادل نصار، أن «ما تقوم به إسرائيل من اعتداءات متتالية وقتل أبرياء وأطفال ونساء وتدمير وحرق منازل وجرف ممتلكات جرائم مدانة ومرفوضة وغير مبررة وهي تستهدف مسار اتفاق الإطار وتقوض كل الجهود المبذولة لوقف التصعيد في الجنوب والمنطقة ككل».
وأوضح عون أنه سيزور الأسبوع القادم باريس «للمشاركة إلى جانب الرئيس ماكرون في افتتاح الاجتماع التحضيري للمؤتمر الدولي لدعم الجيش وقوى الأمن الداخلي، وبحث موضوع القوة الدولية في الجنوب».
بدوره، أثنى وزير العدل الفرنسي على ما تحقق حتى الآن من إصلاحات ولاسيما إلغاء عقوبة الإعدام.
وقال: «يمكن للبنان الاعتماد دائماً على فرنسا ومستمرون في التعاون مع وزارة العدل اللبنانية ومواكبة لبنان في المسار الإصلاحي الشجاع الذي اختاره لاسيما وأن تطبيق هذا المسار هو شرط أساسي من أجل تحقيق استقلال لبنان وسيادته».
The Lebanese President, General Joseph Aoun, welcomed today (Monday) the "French and Italian initiative to form a European force to fill the void after the withdrawal of UNIFIL," affirming that Lebanon supports the renewal of the international force in the south, which President Emmanuel Macron is working to facilitate.
During his meeting with French Minister of Justice Gérald Darmanin today, in the presence of Minister of Justice Adel Nassar, Aoun emphasized that "what Israel is doing with its continuous assaults, killing innocents, children, and women, destroying and burning homes, and demolishing properties are condemned, rejected, and unjustified crimes that target the framework agreement and undermine all efforts to stop the escalation in the south and the region as a whole."
Aoun clarified that he will visit Paris next week "to participate alongside President Macron in the opening of the preparatory meeting for the international conference to support the army and internal security forces, and to discuss the issue of the international force in the south."
For his part, the French Minister of Justice praised the reforms achieved so far, particularly the abolition of the death penalty.
He stated: "Lebanon can always count on France, and we will continue to cooperate with the Lebanese Ministry of Justice and support Lebanon in the courageous reform path it has chosen, especially since the implementation of this path is a fundamental condition for achieving Lebanon's independence and sovereignty."
