حذر الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب من أن بريطانيا تواجه أزمات خطيرة تهدد مستقبلها، محذراً من تداعيات ارتفاع تكاليف الطاقة وسياسات التحول إلى الحياد الكربوني، إلى جانب تدفق المهاجرين، في تصريحات تعكس استمرار التوتر في العلاقات بين لندن وواشنطن.
وقال ترمب، في مقابلة مع شبكة «GB News» البريطانية، إن المملكة المتحدة «على حافة الكارثة»، منتقداً ما وصفه بارتفاع أسعار الطاقة إلى مستويات تفوق المعدلات الطبيعية، ومعبراً عن مخاوفه من تأثير الهجرة الجماعية على المجتمع البريطاني.
ترمب: بريطانيا في ورطة
وأكد ترمب، خلال المقابلة، إعجابه بالملك تشارلز الثالث وتقديره لبريطانيا باعتبارها دولة، لكنه رأى أن حكومة رئيس الوزراء آندي بيرنهام تواجه مشكلات خطيرة يتعين عليها التعامل معها.
وقال ترمب: «بلدكم في ورطة، أنتم على حافة الكارثة»، مضيفاً أن بريطانيا تواجه «مشكلة هجرة هائلة» إلى جانب «مشكلة طاقة هائلة».
وانتقد الرئيس الأمريكي ارتفاع تكلفة الطاقة في بريطانيا، قائلاً إنها «أعلى بثلاث أو أربع مرات مما ينبغي أن تكون عليه».
وتأتي تصريحات ترمب في وقت تشهد فيه العلاقات بين بريطانيا والولايات المتحدة توترات متزايدة خلال السنوات الأخيرة، بعدما وصلت العلاقات بين البلدين إلى مستويات مرتفعة خلال زيارة الدولة التي قام بها ترمب إلى لندن عام 2025، قبل أن تتراجع لاحقاً وسط انتقادات أمريكية متكررة لعدد من السياسات الداخلية والخارجية البريطانية.
انتقادات لسياسات الطاقة البريطانية
ويُعرف ترمب بموقفه الرافض للعديد من سياسات مكافحة تغير المناخ، كما سبق له أن وصف تغير المناخ بأنه «خدعة»، وانتقد في مناسبات عدة توجه بريطانيا بعيداً عن الوقود الأحفوري.
كما دعا ترمب مراراً الحكومات البريطانية المتعاقبة إلى الاستفادة من احتياطيات النفط والغاز الموجودة في بحر الشمال، بدلاً من الاعتماد بصورة أكبر على سياسات التحول نحو مصادر الطاقة النظيفة.
وفي هذا السياق، يدرس رئيس الوزراء آندي بيرنهام السماح بالمضي قدماً في مشروعين كبيرين في بحر الشمال، متعهداً باتباع نهج عملي في التعامل مع التحول في قطاع الطاقة، مع التأكيد في الوقت نفسه على التزام حكومته بضرورة الانتقال إلى مصادر كهرباء نظيفة.
ترمب: الهجرة تغير وجه بريطانيا
ولم تقتصر انتقادات ترمب على قطاع الطاقة، إذ ركز أيضاً على ملف الهجرة، محذراً من أن استمرار وصول المهاجرين من مختلف أنحاء العالم قد يؤدي، بحسب رأيه، إلى تغيير هوية بريطانيا بشكل جذري.
وقال: «إذا لم توقفوا تدفق الناس إلى بلدكم من جميع أنحاء العالم، فلن يتبقى لديكم بلد».
وتعد قضية الهجرة من أبرز الملفات التي تشغل الناخبين البريطانيين، ولا سيما وصول مهاجرين بصورة غير قانونية عبر القوارب الصغيرة من مناطق في القارة الأوروبية إلى السياحل البريطانية.
وساهمت المخاوف المتعلقة بالهجرة غير النظامية في تعزيز شعبية حزب «ريفورم» اليميني الذي يقوده السياسي نايجل فاراج، مع تصاعد الضغوط السياسية على الحكومات البريطانية لاتخاذ إجراءات أكثر صرامة للحد من عمليات عبور القنال الإنجليزي.
لندن تتعهد بوقف عبور القوارب
من جانبها، كررت حكومة بيرنهام تعهدات كانت قد أطلقتها الحكومة السابقة بقيادة كير ستارمر، بشأن العمل على وقف عمليات العبور غير القانوني للقنال الإنجليزي.
وقالت الحكومة البريطانية في وقت سابق من هذا الأسبوع إن أعداد عمليات العبور انخفضت بصورة حادة، مشيرة إلى أن الجهود التي تستهدف عمليات إطلاق القوارب والشبكات الإجرامية التي تقف وراء تهريب المهاجرين بدأت تؤتي ثمارها.
وتسلط تصريحات ترمب الضوء مجدداً على ملفات الطاقة والهجرة باعتبارهما من أكثر القضايا حساسية في بريطانيا، في وقت تواجه فيه الحكومة ضغوطاً داخلية متزايدة بشأن تكلفة المعيشة وأمن الطاقة والهجرة غير النظامية، بينما تحاول الموازنة بين الالتزامات المناخية والحاجات الاقتصادية للبلاد.

Trump, in an interview with the British network "GB News," stated that the United Kingdom is "on the brink of disaster," criticizing what he described as energy prices soaring to levels beyond normal rates, and expressing his concerns about the impact of mass immigration on British society.
Trump: Britain is in trouble
During the interview, Trump confirmed his admiration for King Charles III and his appreciation for Britain as a nation, but he believed that Prime Minister Andy Burnham's government is facing serious problems that it must address.
Trump said, "Your country is in trouble, you are on the brink of disaster," adding that Britain is facing a "massive immigration problem" alongside a "huge energy problem."
The U.S. president criticized the high cost of energy in Britain, stating that it is "three or four times higher than it should be."
Trump's remarks come at a time when relations between Britain and the United States have been increasingly strained in recent years, after the relationship reached high levels during Trump's state visit to London in 2025, before later declining amid repeated American criticisms of various British domestic and foreign policies.
Criticism of British energy policies
Trump is known for his opposition to many climate change policies, having previously described climate change as a "hoax," and he has criticized Britain's shift away from fossil fuels on several occasions.
He has repeatedly urged successive British governments to take advantage of the oil and gas reserves in the North Sea, rather than relying more heavily on policies aimed at transitioning to clean energy sources.
In this context, Prime Minister Andy Burnham is considering moving forward with two major projects in the North Sea, pledging to take a practical approach to addressing the transition in the energy sector while simultaneously emphasizing his government's commitment to the need to transition to clean electricity sources.
Trump: Immigration is changing the face of Britain
Trump's criticisms were not limited to the energy sector; he also focused on immigration, warning that the continued arrival of migrants from around the world could, in his view, lead to a radical change in Britain's identity.
He said, "If you do not stop the flow of people into your country from all over the world, you will have no country left."
The issue of immigration is one of the most prominent topics occupying British voters, particularly the arrival of migrants illegally via small boats from areas in continental Europe to British shores.
Concerns about irregular migration have contributed to the rising popularity of the right-wing "Reform" party led by politician Nigel Farage, amid increasing political pressure on British governments to take stricter measures to curb crossings of the English Channel.
London pledges to stop boat crossings
For its part, Burnham's government reiterated commitments made by the previous government led by Keir Starmer regarding efforts to stop illegal crossings of the English Channel.
The British government stated earlier this week that the number of crossings has sharply declined, noting that efforts targeting boat launches and the criminal networks behind migrant smuggling are beginning to bear fruit.
Trump's statements once again highlight energy and immigration issues as some of the most sensitive topics in Britain, at a time when the government is facing increasing internal pressures regarding the cost of living, energy security, and irregular migration, while trying to balance climate commitments with the economic needs of the country.
