حذرت صحيفة «فايننشال تايمز»، من أن الضفة الغربية تحت الاحتلال الإسرائيلي نحو تحول خطير قد يجعل إقامة دولة فلسطينية متصلة جغرافياً أمراً أكثر صعوبة، في ظل تصاعد عنف المستوطنين وتوسّع الاستيطان، منتقدة اكتفاء المجتمع الدولي بإجراءات محدودة لا توقف تغيير الوقائع على الأرض.
وأشارت إلى أن القرى الفلسطينية في الضفة المحتلة تعيش تحت الحصار، إذ إن المزارعين يمنعون من الوصول إلى أراضيهم، وتدفع هجمات المستوطنين الإسرائيليين اليومية مزيداً من العائلات إلى مغادرة منازلها.
وأضافت أن أكثر من 1400 هجوم نفذه مستوطنون هذا العام، مقابل 1836 هجوماً طوال 2025، وهو أعلى مستوى منذ بدء تسجيل هذه البيانات أممياً قبل عقدين.
وأكدت الصحيفة البريطانية أن جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، بوصفه القوة القائمة بالاحتلال والملزمة بالحفاظ على النظام العام، غالباً ما يقف متفرجاً أو لا يصل عند وقوع الهجمات. أما الدول الغربية، فقد تحركت ببطء، رغم فرض بعض الدول الأوروبية وأستراليا وكندا ونيوزيلندا عقوبات على الوزيرين المتطرفين إيتمار بن غفير وبتسلئيل سموتريتش وكيانات استيطانية.
وحذرت من أن الحكومة الإسرائيلية طرحت هذا الشهر عطاءات لبناء نحو 1200 وحدة سكنية لليهود في منطقة «إي 1»، بما قد يقسم الضفة إلى جزأين ويقضي على إمكانية قيام دولة فلسطينية متصلة.
وأكدت أن المشروع، الذي جمّدته حكومات إسرائيلية سابقة بسبب حساسيته، يعكس استعجال رئيس الوزراء بنيامين نتنياهو وحلفائه لتثبيت وقائع جديدة قبل انتخابات أكتوبر.
واتهمت فايننشال تايمز إسرائيل بأنها سرّعت سياسة منع قيام دولة فلسطينية وتوسيع المستوطنات بعد هجوم 7 أكتوبر 2023، مستفيدة من تركيز العالم على حرب غزة. ومنذ ذلك الحين، قتل الاحتلال أكثر من ألف فلسطيني في الضفة، بينما نزح أكثر من 41500 خلال الأشهر الـ18 الماضية.
وشددت على أن التركيز الدولي على كارثة غزة، حيث استشهد أكثر من 70 ألف فلسطيني، لا ينبغي أن يحجب ما يحدث في الضفة الغربية.ودعت الحكومات الغربية إلى اتخاذ موقف موحد يحظر واردات المستوطنات، ويفرض عقوبات على الجهات الإسرائيلية المشاركة في بنائها وتمويلها.
وطالبت الصحيفة دول الاتحاد الأوروبي على تعليق اتفاقية الشراكة مع إسرائيل، والضغط على الرئيس دونالد ترمب لإقناعه بأن سياسات نتنياهو تضر بالمصالح الأمريكية والإسرائيلية وتزيد عدم استقرار المنطقة.
وانتقدت صمت الحلفاء الغربيين، مؤكدة أنه شجّع إسرائيل على المضي في مشروعها، وأن كلفة التأخر باتت ثقيلة، بعدما فقدت آلاف الأسر الفلسطينية أراضيها ومصادر رزقها، دون حماية دولية فعالة.
The "Financial Times" warned that the West Bank under Israeli occupation is heading towards a dangerous shift that could make the establishment of a geographically contiguous Palestinian state even more difficult, amid rising settler violence and the expansion of settlements, criticizing the international community for its limited actions that do not stop the changing realities on the ground.
It pointed out that Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank are living under siege, as farmers are prevented from accessing their lands, and daily attacks by Israeli settlers are driving more families to leave their homes.
It added that more than 1,400 attacks have been carried out by settlers this year, compared to 1,836 attacks throughout 2025, which is the highest level since these data began to be recorded internationally two decades ago.
The British newspaper confirmed that the Israeli occupation army, as the occupying power responsible for maintaining public order, often stands by or fails to respond when attacks occur. Meanwhile, Western countries have moved slowly, despite some European countries, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand imposing sanctions on the two extremist ministers Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich and settlement entities.
It warned that the Israeli government has put out tenders this month to build about 1,200 housing units for Jews in the "E1" area, which could divide the West Bank into two parts and eliminate the possibility of establishing a contiguous Palestinian state.
It confirmed that the project, which previous Israeli governments had frozen due to its sensitivity, reflects Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his allies' urgency to establish new facts on the ground before the October elections.
The Financial Times accused Israel of accelerating its policy to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state and expand settlements after the October 7, 2023 attack, taking advantage of the world's focus on the Gaza war. Since then, the occupation has killed more than a thousand Palestinians in the West Bank, while more than 41,500 have been displaced over the past 18 months.
It emphasized that the international focus on the Gaza disaster, where more than 70,000 Palestinians have been martyred, should not overshadow what is happening in the West Bank. It called on Western governments to take a unified stance that bans imports from settlements and imposes sanctions on Israeli entities involved in their construction and funding.
The newspaper urged EU countries to suspend the partnership agreement with Israel and pressure President Donald Trump to convince him that Netanyahu's policies harm American and Israeli interests and increase instability in the region.
It criticized the silence of Western allies, emphasizing that it has encouraged Israel to proceed with its project, and that the cost of delay has become heavy, after thousands of Palestinian families have lost their lands and livelihoods, without effective international protection.
