تحتضن مدينة إسطنبول التركية، اليوم الإثنين، أول اجتماع للجنة السياسية والدفاعية الإستراتيجية، التي أُنشئت في إطار اتفاقية مكة للدفاع المشترك بين السعودية وتركيا وباكستان.
ونقلت وكالة «الأناضول» عن مصادر في الخارجية التركية قولها: إن الاجتماع يضم وزراء الخارجية والدفاع ورؤساء هيئات الأركان في الدول الثلاث لوضع التوجه الاستراتيجي للأنشطة التي ستنفذ بموجب الاتفاقية.
وحسب الوكالة فإنه سيمثل تركيا في الاجتماع وزير الخارجية هاكان فيدان، ووزير الدفاع يشار جولر، ورئيس هيئة الأركان العامة سلجوق بيرقدار أوجلو.
وذكرت «الأناضول» أن الاجتماع سيتناول قضايا الأمن الدولي، سبل تطوير القدرات الدفاعية، وتعزيز قابلية العمل المشترك بين القوات المسلحة السعودية والتركية والباكستانية.
وأضافت أن المشاركين سيبحثون تعميق التعاون في مجال الصناعات الدفاعية، بما يشمل الإنتاج المشترك والبحث والتطوير، فضلاً عن تعزيز الجهود المشتركة في مكافحة الإرهاب.
ويناقش الاجتماع الإطار العام للأمانة العامة والآليات الأخرى المعنية بتوجيه العمل في مجالات التعاون التي تحددها اللجنة السياسية والدفاعية الإستراتيجية.
ولفتت وكالة الأنباء إلى أن الاجتماع سيعمل على رسم خريطة طريق للخطوات المقرر اتخاذها خلال المرحلة القادمة، في إطار تنفيذ اتفاقية مكة.
من جانبها، أفادت وزارة الخارجية الباكستانية بأن الاجتماع الأول للجنة سيُعقد في إسطنبول في 31 أغسطس، بمشاركة وزراء الخارجية والدفاع ورؤساء هيئات الأركان في الدول الثلاث.
وقالت في بيان إن باكستان سيمثلها نائب رئيس الوزراء وزير الخارجية محمد إسحاق دار، وزير الدفاع خواجة محمد آصف، ورئيس أركان الجيش وقائد قوات الدفاع المشير عاصم منير، مؤكدةً مشاركة نظرائهم من السعودية وتركيا.
وأكدت الخارجية أن مشاركة باكستان تعكس روابط الصداقة التاريخية مع السعودية وتركيا، إلى جانب رغبتها في تحقيق سلام واستقرار دائمين في المنطقة.
ووقّع ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، والرئيس التركي رجب طيب أردوغان، ورئيس الوزراء الباكستاني شهباز شريف، اتفاقية مكة للدفاع المشترك في مكة المكرمة في 7 أغسطس.
وتهدف الاتفاقية إلى تعزيز الردع الجماعي في مواجهة أي عمل عدواني، وتنص على اعتبار أي هجوم مسلح على إحدى الدول الثلاث هجوماً عليها جميعاً.
Today, Monday, the Turkish city of Istanbul hosts the first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee, which was established under the Mecca Agreement for mutual defense between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan.
The Anadolu Agency reported from sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry that the meeting includes the foreign and defense ministers and the chiefs of staff of the three countries to set the strategic direction for the activities to be carried out under the agreement.
According to the agency, Turkey will be represented at the meeting by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yasar Guler, and Chief of General Staff Selcuk Bayraktaroglu.
Anadolu mentioned that the meeting will address issues of international security, ways to develop defense capabilities, and enhance the interoperability of the armed forces of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan.
It added that participants will discuss deepening cooperation in the field of defense industries, including joint production and research and development, as well as enhancing joint efforts in combating terrorism.
The meeting will discuss the general framework of the secretariat and other mechanisms concerned with directing work in the areas of cooperation defined by the Strategic Political and Defense Committee.
The news agency noted that the meeting will work on mapping out a roadmap for the steps to be taken in the upcoming phase, within the framework of implementing the Mecca Agreement.
For its part, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry stated that the first meeting of the committee will be held in Istanbul on August 31, with the participation of the foreign and defense ministers and the chiefs of staff of the three countries.
It said in a statement that Pakistan will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Army Staff and Defense Forces Commander General Asim Munir, confirming the participation of their counterparts from Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that Pakistan's participation reflects its historical friendship ties with Saudi Arabia and Turkey, along with its desire to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif signed the Mecca Agreement for mutual defense in Mecca on August 7.
The agreement aims to enhance collective deterrence against any aggressive action and stipulates that any armed attack on one of the three countries is considered an attack on all of them.
