في خطوة تأتي ضمن مساعي إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب لتشديد إجراءاتها ضد الجماعات اليسارية المتطرفة، صنفت الولايات المتحدة حركة «فلسطين أكشن» جماعة إرهابية، كما فرضت عقوبات على حركة «المسار الفلسطيني الثوري البديل» العابرة للحدود.
وقال وزير الخزانة الأمريكي سكوت بيسنت في بيان، أمس (الأربعاء): «على المتطرفين اليساريين وواجهاتهم وداعميهم أن يعلموا تماماً أننا سنستخدم أدواتنا الاقتصادية بالكامل ضدهم».
وأضاف: «لا مكان للإرهاب السياسي في مجتمعنا، وسنواصل قطع الدعم المالي عن هذه الجماعات حتى القضاء عليها نهائياً».
في المقابل، توعدت هدى عموري، المؤسسة المشاركة لـ«فلسطين أكشن»، باستمرار أنشطة الحركة، التي تمحورت مشاركاتها حول تعطيل آلة الحرب الإسرائيلية، معتبرة التصنيف الأمريكي خطيراً.
وفي الوقت ذاته، فرضت وزارة الخزانة الأمريكية، أمس، عقوبات على حركة «المسار الفلسطيني الثوري البديل» العابرة للحدود، متهمة إياها بالعمل كواجهة للجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين.
كما فرضت وزارة الخزانة الأمريكية، أمس، عقوبات أيضاً على كيان مقره إيطاليا، اتهمته بتزويد حركة «أنتيفا» وجماعات يسارية أخرى ببنية تحتية وأدوات وخدمات رقمية.
ويأتي هذا الإجراء بعدما قال وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو، الشهر الماضي، لمسؤولين من أكثر من 60 دولة، إن واشنطن ستسعى إلى إعادة تركيز الجهود الدولية لمكافحة الإرهاب على ما وصفه بـ«إرهاب اليسار المتطرف». لكن هذه التصريحات أثارت مخاوف الديمقراطيين من تسييس إدارة ترمب لجهود «مكافحة الإرهاب»، وتحويل الموارد بعيداً عن تهديدات متطرفين آخرين.
وكان ترمب، خلال حملته الانتخابية في عام 2024، تعهد باتخاذ إجراءات ضد الجماعات اليسارية التي يتهمها بالتحريض على العنف، وذلك بعد اغتيال الناشط اليميني الموالي له، تشارلي كيرك، العام الماضي.
وكانت بريطانيا قد حظرت حركة «فلسطين أكشن» في وقت سابق باعتبارها «تنظيماً إرهابياً». واستهدفت الحركة بشكل متزايد شركات الدفاع المرتبطة بإسرائيل في بريطانيا.
In a move that comes as part of the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump's administration to tighten its measures against extreme leftist groups, the United States has designated the "Palestine Action" movement as a terrorist organization and imposed sanctions on the cross-border "Alternative Revolutionary Palestinian Path" movement.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bancen said in a statement yesterday (Wednesday): "Leftist extremists and their fronts and supporters should know that we will use our economic tools fully against them."
He added: "There is no place for political terrorism in our society, and we will continue to cut off financial support to these groups until they are completely eradicated."
In contrast, Huda Amouri, co-founder of "Palestine Action," vowed to continue the movement's activities, which have focused on disrupting the Israeli war machine, considering the U.S. designation to be dangerous.
At the same time, the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions yesterday on the cross-border "Alternative Revolutionary Palestinian Path" movement, accusing it of acting as a front for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
The U.S. Treasury Department also imposed sanctions yesterday on an entity based in Italy, accusing it of providing the "Antifa" movement and other leftist groups with infrastructure, tools, and digital services.
This action comes after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told officials from more than 60 countries last month that Washington would seek to refocus international counter-terrorism efforts on what he described as "extreme left terrorism." However, these statements raised concerns among Democrats about the politicization of counter-terrorism efforts by the Trump administration and the diversion of resources away from other extremist threats.
During his 2024 election campaign, Trump pledged to take action against leftist groups that he accuses of inciting violence, following the assassination of his right-wing supporter, Charlie Kirk, last year.
The UK had previously banned the "Palestine Action" movement, considering it a "terrorist organization." The movement has increasingly targeted defense companies linked to Israel in the UK.
