يناقش مجلس الأمن الدولي اليوم (الخميس) في إجتماعة الدوري بشأن اليمن مستجدات الأوضاع السياسية والأمنية والإنسانية في اليمن. ومن المقرر أن يقف أمام عملية التصعيد العسكري للحوثيين في العديد من المناطق اليمنية، وسيتناول عملية استئناف الهجوم الحوثي على السفن التجارية في البحر الأحمر وخليج عدن.
ومن المقرر أن يبدأ الاجتماع بجلسة مفتوحة، تعقبها مشاورات مغلقة. يقدم خلالها كل من مبعوث الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة إلى اليمن هانس غروندبرغ، ووكيل الأمين العام للشؤون الإنسانية توم فليتشر، وممثل عن المجتمع المدني، إحاطات حول التطورات السياسية والأمنية والإنسانية في اليمن.
الجدير بالذكر أنه خلال المشاورات المغلقة سوف يناقش أعضاء مجلس الأمن الدولي عدداً من القضايا الرئيسية، وعلى رأسها التصعيد العسكري الأخير من قبل جماعة الحوثيين بتنفيذ هجمات على مأرب وحضرموت والمخا، ما نتج عنه من سقوط ضحايا مدنيين، وأضرار بالبنية التحتية المدنية في هذه المناطق.
كما سيتناول المجلس تداعيات استئناف الحوثيين هجماتهم البحرية على السفن التجارية في البحر الأحمر وخليج عدن. ومن المتوقع، أن يتناول أعضاء المجلس خلال نقاشاتهم الوضع الإنساني المتدهور في اليمن، وتجديد إطلاق الدعوة للإفراج الفوري وغير المشروط عن الموظفين الأمميين والعاملين في المنظمات غير الحكومية المحتجزين لدى جماعة الحوثيين، ووقف التدخل في العمليات الإنسانية.
The United Nations Security Council is discussing today (Thursday) in its regular meeting about Yemen the latest developments in the political, security, and humanitarian situations in Yemen. It is scheduled to address the military escalation by the Houthis in several Yemeni regions, and will cover the resumption of Houthi attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The meeting is set to begin with an open session, followed by closed consultations. During this time, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher, and a representative from civil society will provide briefings on the political, security, and humanitarian developments in Yemen.
It is noteworthy that during the closed consultations, members of the UN Security Council will discuss a number of key issues, primarily the recent military escalation by the Houthi group, including attacks on Marib, Hadramout, and Al-Mokha, which have resulted in civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure in these areas.
The Council will also address the implications of the Houthis resuming their maritime attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. It is expected that during their discussions, Council members will address the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen, and renew the call for the immediate and unconditional release of UN staff and NGO workers detained by the Houthi group, as well as to halt interference in humanitarian operations.
