أدان الأمين العام لجامعة الدول العربية نبيل فهمي الهجمات التي نفذتها جماعة الحوثيين واستهدفت منطقة نجران جنوب غربي المملكة العربية السعودية، وأسفرت عن إصابة عدد من المدنيين، بالتزامن مع هجمات أخرى طالت مواقع ووحدات تابعة للقوات الحكومية اليمنية في محافظتي مأرب وحضرموت.
وأكد فهمي أن استهداف الأراضي السعودية وتعريض حياة المدنيين للخطر، بالتوازي مع تصعيد العمليات العسكرية داخل اليمن، يمثلان مسارًا بالغ الخطورة من شأنه تهديد أمن المنطقة واستقرارها وتقويض الجهود الرامية إلى تثبيت التهدئة والعودة إلى المسار السياسي.
وأعرب الأمين العام عن تضامن جامعة الدول العربية الكامل مع المملكة العربية السعودية في مواجهة أي اعتداء يستهدف أمنها وسيادتها وسلامة أراضيها، داعيًا في الوقت ذاته إلى وقف الهجمات الحوثية والتصعيد العسكري داخل اليمن.
وشدد فهمي على أن المرحلة الراهنة تتطلب وقف التصعيد والامتناع عن أي خطوات من شأنها توسيع نطاق المواجهة، مؤكدًا ضرورة العودة إلى المسار السياسي بما يحفظ أمن المملكة العربية السعودية، ويصون وحدة اليمن وسيادته وسلامة أراضيه.
تصعيد يتجاوز الحدود اليمنية
ويأتي الموقف العربي في أعقاب موجة من الهجمات الحوثية التي امتدت خلال الساعات الماضية إلى أكثر من جبهة، بعدما استهدفت الجماعة مواقع للقوات الحكومية في مأرب وحضرموت، بالتزامن مع هجوم على منطقة نجران السعودية.
وأفادت تقارير حديثة بمقتل ما لا يقل عن 30 شخصًا من القوات الحكومية اليمنية وإصابة أكثر من 50 آخرين في الهجمات التي طالت معسكرات في مأرب وحضرموت، بينما أعلنت السلطات السعودية إصابة 11 مدنيًا في نجران، بينهم طفل، جراء قصف حوثي.
وتأتي الهجمات الأخيرة في وقت تشهد فيه الساحة اليمنية توترات متزايدة، وسط مخاوف من عودة البلاد إلى دورة جديدة من التصعيد العسكري بعد سنوات من محاولات تثبيت الهدوء وفتح الطريق أمام تسوية سياسية.
The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil Fahmy, condemned the attacks carried out by the Houthi group that targeted the Najran region in the southwestern part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, resulting in injuries to several civilians, coinciding with other attacks that affected sites and units belonging to the Yemeni government forces in the governorates of Marib and Hadhramaut.
Fahmy affirmed that targeting Saudi territory and endangering civilian lives, alongside the escalation of military operations within Yemen, represents a highly dangerous course that threatens the security and stability of the region and undermines efforts aimed at consolidating the ceasefire and returning to the political track.
The Secretary-General expressed the full solidarity of the Arab League with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in facing any aggression that targets its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while simultaneously calling for an end to the Houthi attacks and military escalation within Yemen.
Fahmy emphasized that the current phase requires halting the escalation and refraining from any steps that could widen the scope of confrontation, stressing the necessity of returning to the political track in a manner that preserves the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and safeguards the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Yemen.
Escalation Beyond Yemeni Borders
The Arab stance comes in the wake of a wave of Houthi attacks that have extended over the past hours to more than one front, after the group targeted sites of government forces in Marib and Hadhramaut, coinciding with an attack on the Saudi region of Najran.
Recent reports indicated that at least 30 members of the Yemeni government forces were killed and more than 50 others were injured in the attacks that targeted camps in Marib and Hadhramaut, while Saudi authorities announced that 11 civilians were injured in Najran, including a child, due to Houthi shelling.
The recent attacks come at a time when the Yemeni scene is witnessing increasing tensions, amid fears of the country returning to a new cycle of military escalation after years of attempts to stabilize calm and open the way for a political settlement.
