أعلنت وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، التزامها بإعادة سلطة لبنان على الجنوب، موضحة أن محادثات روما بين لبنان وإسرائيل تجمع فرقاً تقنية لدفع التنفيذ الكامل للإطار الثلاثي.
وقال المتحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية تومي بيجوت على حسابه في «إكس»: إن الجولة الأحدث من المحادثات التي ترعاها الولايات المتحدة بين لبنان وإسرائيل بدأت اليوم (الثلاثاء) في روما، وستستمر حتى (الخميس)، موضحاً أن الولايات المتحدة تظل ملتزمة التزاماً كاملاً بدعم الحكومتين في المضي قدماً بهذه العملية بما يحقق أمناً دائماً للبلدين، ويقضي على التهديدات الأمنية لإسرائيل، ويعيد سلطة الدولة اللبنانية على جميع أنحاء الجنوب.
وأشار إلى أن من أهداف محادثات روما التمهيد لاتفاق شامل للسلام والأمن بين لبنان وإسرائيل، مبيناً أن المفاوضات بين لبنان وإسرائيل تناولت المناطق التجريبية ونزع سلاح حزب الله.
ودخلت الجولة السابعة من المفاوضات بين لبنان وإسرائيل مرحلة جديدة من البحث في الملفات السياسية والعسكرية، مع تركيز اليوم الأول على ملف الحدود وآليات التحقق من تنفيذ اتفاق الإطار، فيما تقرر استكمال النقاش السياسي غداً (الأربعاء) بحسب مصادر لبنانية.
ونقلت قناة «العربية» عن المصادر قولها إن الاجتماع انقسم خلال فترة ما بعد الظهر إلى مسارين منفصلين: سياسي وعسكري، في إطار محاولة معالجة الملفات التقنية والسياسية بشكل متوازٍ، لافتاً إلى أن النقاش السياسي تناول ملف الحدود، وقدم الوفد اللبناني رؤيته بشأن معالجة هذا الملف، على أن تستكمل المحادثات السياسية خلال جلسات غدٍ.
وفيما يتعلق بالمستوى العسكري، أوضحت المصادر أن الاجتماع ركز على آلية التحقق من تنفيذ الاتفاق، إضافة إلى البحث في الجهة أو الطرف الثالث الذي سيتولى مهمة الإشراف على هذه الآلية، مبينة أن إسرائيل لم تقدم خلال اجتماع اليوم أي أجوبة للبنان بشأن مدى التزامها بوقف إطلاق النار.
ولفتت المصادر إلى أن المحادثات لم تتطرق كذلك إلى ملف المناطق التجريبية التي كانت مطروحة في الجولات السابقة. ويرأس الوفد اللبناني السفير سيمون كرم، ويضم السفيرة ندى حمادة معوض وعدداً من كبار المسؤولين المدنيين والعسكريين، فيما يشارك عن الجانب الإسرائيلي السفير لدى الولايات المتحدة يحيئيل ليتر، ونائب مستشار الأمن القومي يوسي درازنين، إلى جانب مسؤولين مدنيين وعسكريين.
كما يضم الوفد الأمريكي ممثلين عن وزارة الخارجية، ومجلس الأمن القومي، ووزارة الدفاع (البنتاغون).
The U.S. Department of State announced today (Tuesday) its commitment to restoring Lebanon's authority over the south, explaining that the Rome talks between Lebanon and Israel involve technical teams to advance the full implementation of the tripartite framework.
U.S. State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated on his account on "X" that the latest round of U.S.-brokered talks between Lebanon and Israel began today (Tuesday) in Rome and will continue until (Thursday), clarifying that the United States remains fully committed to supporting both governments in moving forward with this process to achieve lasting security for both countries, eliminate security threats to Israel, and restore the authority of the Lebanese state over the entire south.
He noted that one of the goals of the Rome talks is to pave the way for a comprehensive agreement on peace and security between Lebanon and Israel, indicating that the negotiations between Lebanon and Israel addressed the trial areas and the disarmament of Hezbollah.
The seventh round of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel has entered a new phase of discussion on political and military files, with the first day focusing on the border issue and mechanisms for verifying the implementation of the framework agreement, while it was decided to continue the political discussions tomorrow (Wednesday), according to Lebanese sources.
Al-Arabiya channel reported that sources said the meeting was divided in the afternoon into two separate tracks: political and military, in an attempt to address the technical and political files in parallel, noting that the political discussion addressed the border issue, and the Lebanese delegation presented its vision regarding this file, with political talks set to continue during tomorrow's sessions.
Regarding the military level, the sources clarified that the meeting focused on the mechanism for verifying the implementation of the agreement, in addition to discussing the party or third party that will oversee this mechanism, indicating that Israel did not provide any answers to Lebanon during today's meeting regarding its commitment to ceasefire.
The sources pointed out that the talks did not address the trial areas that were raised in previous rounds. The Lebanese delegation is headed by Ambassador Simon Karam, and includes Ambassador Nada Hamadeh Mouawad and several senior civilian and military officials, while the Israeli side is represented by the ambassador to the United States, Yair Lapid, and Deputy National Security Advisor Yossi Draznin, along with civilian and military officials.
The U.S. delegation also includes representatives from the State Department, the National Security Council, and the Department of Defense (Pentagon).
