كشفت وسائل إعلام إسرائيلية اليوم (الأربعاء)، مقتل سائق جرافة يعمل متعاقدًا مع الجيش الإسرائيلي، جراء انهيار مئذنة مسجد عليه أثناء تنفيذ عمليات هدم واسعة النطاق في قطاع غزة.
وذكرت أن السائق كان يشارك في أعمال الهدم ضمن فرق المقاولين المدنيين المتعاقدين مع الجيش الإسرائيلي، ووقع الحادث عندما انهار جزء من مئذنة المسجد فجأة فوق الجرافة التي يقودها، ما أدى إلى مصرعه على الفور.
يأتي هذا الحادث في سياق تصاعد العمليات العسكرية الإسرائيلية في مناطق متفرقة من قطاع غزة، والتي تشمل تدميرًا ممنهجًا للبنى التحتية والمباني، بما في ذلك المساجد والمنازل، تحت ذريعة تدمير البنية التحتية العسكرية لحماس أو لأغراض أمنية أخرى.
وشهد قطاع غزة منذ بداية الحرب في أكتوبر 2023 عمليات تدمير واسعة النطاق أدت إلى تدمير عشرات الآلاف من الوحدات السكنية والمباني العامة، بما فيها المساجد والمدارس والمستشفيات، ووفقًا لتقارير دولية، يُعتبر هذا التدمير من أكبر عمليات الدمار التي شهدتها المنطقة في العصر الحديث.
وتستخدم إسرائيل في كثير من الحالات مقاولين مدنيين من داخل إسرائيل لتشغيل الجرافات والمعدات الثقيلة في عمليات «التطهير» والهدم، نظرًا لخطورة المهمات وتعرض المناطق لنيران محتملة أو انهيارات غير متوقعة، وقد سُجلت حوادث سابقة مشابهة أودت بحياة متعاقدين آخرين بسبب انفجارات أو انهيارات أو نيران صديقة.
ولم يصدر بعد بيان رسمي مفصل من الجيش الإسرائيلي حول ملابسات الحادثة الدقيقة أو اسم الضحية، كما هو معتاد في مثل هذه الحالات لأسباب أمنية.
Israeli media revealed today (Wednesday) the death of a bulldozer driver working as a contractor with the Israeli army, as a result of a mosque minaret collapsing on him during extensive demolition operations in the Gaza Strip.
It was reported that the driver was participating in demolition work as part of civilian contractor teams contracted with the Israeli army, and the incident occurred when part of the mosque's minaret suddenly collapsed on the bulldozer he was operating, resulting in his immediate death.
This incident comes amid an escalation of Israeli military operations in various areas of the Gaza Strip, which include systematic destruction of infrastructure and buildings, including mosques and homes, under the pretext of destroying Hamas's military infrastructure or for other security purposes.
Since the beginning of the war in October 2023, the Gaza Strip has witnessed widespread destruction that has led to the destruction of tens of thousands of housing units and public buildings, including mosques, schools, and hospitals. According to international reports, this destruction is considered one of the largest devastation operations the region has seen in modern times.
Israel often employs civilian contractors from within Israel to operate bulldozers and heavy equipment in "clearing" and demolition operations, due to the dangerous nature of the tasks and the exposure of the areas to potential fire or unexpected collapses. Similar previous incidents have been recorded, resulting in the deaths of other contractors due to explosions, collapses, or friendly fire.
