أعلن تشارلز سبنسر، شقيق الأميرة ديانا، عزمه إصدار كتاب جديد في سبتمبر القادم، قال إنه يهدف إلى «قول الحقيقة» عن حياة شقيقته الراحلة، وذلك مع اقتراب الذكرى الـ30 لوفاتها في حادث سير بالعاصمة الفرنسية باريس.
ويصدر كتاب «أغنية البجعة: ديانا، شقيقتي» (Swan Song: Diana, My Sister) في بريطانيا ودول أخرى في 22 سبتمبر، على أن يُترجم إلى 12 لغة.
ذكريات الأسبوع المأساوي
وقالت دار «بينغوين راندوم هاوس» للنشر، في بيان، إن سبنسر «يروي القصة المذهلة لحياته مع ديانا والأسبوع المأسوي الذي شهد وفاتها»، مضيفة أن هذه هي المرة الأولى التي يتحدث فيها إيرل سبنسر بصراحة وبإسهاب عن شقيقته.
وقال سبنسر إنه، مع اقتراب الذكرى الـ30 لوفاة ديانا المأسوية، تلقى مجدداً طلبات كثيرة لإجراء مقابلات للحديث عن شقيقته، مضيفاً أن ذلك أقنعه بتدوين أفكاره وذكرياته بنفسه «لمرة واحدة وإلى الأبد».
قول الحقيقة
واعتبر سبنسر أن كثيراً من الآراء المتداولة عن ديانا «مبنية على أكاذيب أصبحت، مع مرور الزمن، مقبولة كحقائق»، مؤكداً رغبته في «التحدث باسم ديانا، والقيام بذلك بأسلوب إيجابي وصريح».
وشدد على أن هدف الكتاب هو قول الحقيقة عن ديانا من منظور شقيقها، معرباً عن أمله في أن يثير اهتمام الشباب الذين لا يتذكرونها في أوج شهرتها.
رحيل في باريس
وكانت ديانا قد لقيت حتفها في حادث سير داخل نفق ألما في باريس في أغسطس 1997، ومعها عماد «دودي» الفايد، الذي كانت تربطها به علاقة عاطفية، وهو نجل الملياردير المصري الراحل محمد الفايد.
ووصف سبنسر شقيقته الراحلة بأنها كانت تتمتع بشخصية فريدة وديناميكية، مليئة بالحب والكاريزما، لكنها كانت تفتقر بشدة إلى الثقة بالنفس، مشيراً إلى أنها خاضت الحياة بكل ما أوتيت من قوة، وتركت العالم مكاناً أفضل بكثير.
واعتبر الناشر دانيال بنيارد أن الكتاب «ذو أهمية تاريخية»، إذ يروي سيرة إحدى أبرز الشخصيات في القرن الـ20 وأكثرها قيمة من الناحية الثقافية.
Charles Spencer, the brother of Princess Diana, announced his intention to publish a new book next September, stating that it aims to "tell the truth" about the life of his late sister, as the 30th anniversary of her death in a car accident in Paris approaches.
The book "Swan Song: Diana, My Sister" will be released in the UK and other countries on September 22, and it will be translated into 12 languages.
Memories of the Tragic Week
Penguin Random House publishing stated in a statement that Spencer "tells the astonishing story of his life with Diana and the tragic week that witnessed her death," adding that this is the first time Earl Spencer speaks openly and extensively about his sister.
Spencer mentioned that, as the 30th anniversary of Diana's tragic death approaches, he has received many requests for interviews to talk about his sister, adding that this convinced him to write down his thoughts and memories himself "once and for all."
Telling the Truth
Spencer believes that many of the opinions circulating about Diana "are based on lies that have, over time, become accepted as facts," emphasizing his desire to "speak on behalf of Diana, and to do so in a positive and candid manner."
He stressed that the goal of the book is to tell the truth about Diana from her brother's perspective, expressing hope that it will interest young people who do not remember her at the height of her fame.
Departure in Paris
Diana died in a car accident in the Alma Tunnel in Paris in August 1997, along with Dodi Fayed, with whom she had a romantic relationship; he was the son of the late Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed.
Spencer described his late sister as having a unique and dynamic personality, full of love and charisma, but lacking in self-confidence, noting that she faced life with all her strength and left the world a much better place.
Publisher Daniel Benyard considered the book "of historical significance," as it narrates the life story of one of the most prominent figures of the 20th century and one of the most culturally valuable.
