انطلقت أعمال «قمة بحيرة لوسيرن» والاجتماع الأول للجنة رفيعة المستوى، اليوم (الأحد)، بمشاركة ممثلين عن الولايات المتحدة، وإيران، والدولتين الوسيطتين، قطر وباكستان. وأعربت الخارجية القطرية عن تطلعها إلى أن تفضي هذه الاجتماعات للتوصل إلى اتفاق شامل ودائم يعالج كافة الجوانب التي تناولتها مذكرة التفاهم.
من جانبه، امتنع نائب الرئيس الأمريكي جي دي فانس عن الرد على سؤال بشأن رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، لدى افتتاح محادثات ثنائية مع الوفد الباكستاني في سويسرا، قبيل اجتماعات مرتقبة مع مسؤولين إيرانيين، وفق ما أوردت شبكة CNN.
واكتفى فانس بتوجيه الشكر للوفد الباكستاني على مشاركته في الاجتماعات المنعقدة في منتجع بورغنستوك قرب لوسيرن، دون الإدلاء بتصريحات رسمية، وتجاهل سؤالاً بشأن الرسالة التي يود توجيهها إلى نتنياهو.
وتأتي هذه الخطوة في وقت تتزايد فيه حدة التوتر بين إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب والحكومة الإسرائيلية؛ بسبب استمرار العمليات العسكرية في لبنان، التي ترى واشنطن أنها تهدد التفاهمات الجارية مع طهران.
وكان فانس قال في تصريحات صحفية، إن الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل قد تختلفان في «كيفية تحقيق» الأهداف المرتبطة بإنهاء العنف في المنطقة، معتبراً أن ترمب «هو الزعيم الوحيد في العالم المتعاطف مع إسرائيل في هذه المرحلة».
وحذّر الحكومة الإسرائيلية من أنه ينبغي ألا تهاجم «الحليف القوي الوحيد المتبقي لها في العالم»، في إشارة إلى الولايات المتحدة.
وكان وزير الدفاع الإسرائيلي يسرائيل كاتس، جدد تأكيد أن القوات الإسرائيلية لن تنسحب من المناطق التي تحتلها في جنوب لبنان، لافتاً إلى استمرار تنفيذ ضربات في المنطقة. وأضاف في تصريحات أوردتها وكالة «رويترز»، أنه «لم ولن يكون هناك أي قيود تمنع جنودنا من العمل على التخلص من التهديدات في لبنان». واعتبر أن «إعلان وقف إطلاق النار يُبقي القوات الإسرائيلية في جميع مواقعها بجنوب لبنان».
The "Lake Lucerne Summit" and the first meeting of the high-level committee commenced today (Sunday), with representatives from the United States, Iran, and the two mediating countries, Qatar and Pakistan, participating. The Qatari Foreign Ministry expressed its hope that these meetings would lead to a comprehensive and lasting agreement that addresses all aspects covered by the memorandum of understanding.
For his part, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance refrained from responding to a question regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the opening of bilateral talks with the Pakistani delegation in Switzerland, ahead of anticipated meetings with Iranian officials, according to CNN.
Vance merely thanked the Pakistani delegation for its participation in the meetings held at the Bürgenstock resort near Lucerne, without making any official statements, and ignored a question about the message he would like to convey to Netanyahu.
This move comes at a time when tensions are escalating between President Donald Trump's administration and the Israeli government due to the ongoing military operations in Lebanon, which Washington sees as threatening the ongoing understandings with Tehran.
Vance stated in press remarks that the United States and Israel may differ on "how to achieve" the goals related to ending violence in the region, considering that Trump "is the only leader in the world sympathetic to Israel at this stage."
He warned the Israeli government that it should not attack "the only strong ally remaining for it in the world," referring to the United States.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz reiterated that Israeli forces will not withdraw from the areas they occupy in southern Lebanon, noting the continuation of strikes in the region. He added in remarks reported by Reuters that "there will be no restrictions preventing our soldiers from working to eliminate threats in Lebanon." He considered that "the declaration of a ceasefire keeps Israeli forces in all their positions in southern Lebanon."
