في محاولة جديدة لإحياء المسار السياسي بين موسكو وكييف، أعلن الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي اليوم (الإثنين) عن طرحه على الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب مقترحاً لعقد لقاء مباشر مع نظيره الروسي فلاديمير بوتين في الولايات المتحدة.
وأوضح زيلينسكي أنه ناقش خلال اتصال هاتفي مع ترمب إمكانية تنظيم اجتماع يجمعه بالرئيس الروسي على الأراضي الأمريكية، معتبراً أن هذه الصيغة قد تضع موسكو أمام خيار يصعب رفضه.
وأشار إلى أنه ينتظر ما ستؤول إليه الاتصالات خلال الفترة القادمة.
واتهم مسؤولون أوكرانيون في وقت سابق اليوم، روسيا بتنفيذ موجة جديدة من الهجمات على أوكرانيا خلال الليل، ما تسبب في اندلاع حريق في الكنيسة الرئيسية لمجمع دير «كييف بيشيرسك لافرا»، المدرج على قائمة اليونسكو للتراث العالمي، في كييف.
وذكر رئيس الإدارة العسكرية للعاصمة كييف تيمور تكاتشينكو أن الهجوم ألحق أضراراً جسيمة بموقع الدير التاريخي الذي يعود تاريخه إلى ما يقرب من 1000 عام.
وكتبت رئيسة الوزراء الأوكرانية يوليا سفيريدينكو في منشور على منصة إكس: «هجوم وحشي على شعبنا وتراثنا»، فيما توعد وزير الخارجية الأوكراني أندريه سيبيها بالمباشرة بشكل عاجل بإجراءات ضمن اليونسكو وآليات دولية أخرى «لضمان ردود فورية ومناسبة على هذه الهمجية».
وأظهرت صور تم تداولها على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي ألسنة اللهب على سطح «كاتدرائية رقاد السيدة العذراء»، وهي الكنيسة الرئيسية في المجمع، التي تعد رمزاً روحياً وثقافياً أثرياً وتاريخياً في أوكرانيا.
In a new attempt to revive the political path between Moscow and Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today (Monday) that he proposed to U.S. President Donald Trump a direct meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the United States.
Zelensky explained that he discussed during a phone call with Trump the possibility of organizing a meeting with the Russian president on American soil, considering that this format could present Moscow with an option that is difficult to refuse.
He indicated that he is waiting to see how the communications will unfold in the coming period.
Ukrainian officials earlier today accused Russia of carrying out a new wave of attacks on Ukraine overnight, which caused a fire in the main church of the "Kyiv Pechersk Lavra" monastery, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, in Kyiv.
The head of the military administration of the capital Kyiv, Tymur Takachenko, stated that the attack caused significant damage to the historic site of the monastery, which dates back nearly 1,000 years.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko wrote in a post on X: "A brutal attack on our people and our heritage," while Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha vowed to urgently initiate actions within UNESCO and other international mechanisms "to ensure immediate and appropriate responses to this barbarism."
