فيما تتجه الأنظار إلى العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن، التي ستعقد فيها اليوم (الجمعة) محادثات المسار الأمني اللبناني - الإسرائيلي، كثفت إسرائيل هجماتها على الضاحية الجنوبية لبيروت.
وقال شهود عيان إن هناك قصفاً مدفعياً إسرائيلياً وغارات على مدينة النبطية وبلدات كفررمان وشوكين وميفدون ومنطقة كفرجوز بقضاء النبطية جنوبي لبنان.
وأشاروا إلى وجود غارات أخرى نفذتها مسيّرة إسرائيلية على بلدتي طيردبا ومعروب جنوبي لبنان.
وذكرت الوكالة الوطنية للإعلام أن فرق الإنقاذ في الدفاع المدني تمكنت من انتشال جثتي قتيلين من المنزل الذي استهدفته الطائرات الإسرائيلية في بلدة طيردبا بقضاء صور أمس، مؤكدة ارتفاع الحصيلة النهائية إلى قتيلين وخمسة جرحى.
وأشارت إلى أن هناك غارات على طريق عام طيردبا - صور بالقرب من مفرق شارنية، ما خلّف إصابات.
وندد وزير الثقافة اللبناني غسان سلامة باستهداف إسرائيل للمواقع الأثرية والأحياء التراثية في جنوب لبنان، مؤكداً أنه أبلغ نظراءه في العالم ومنظمات دولية بالانتهاكات الإسرائيلية للمواقع الأثرية.
وأشار إلى أن عدداً كبيراً من هذه المواقع يتمتع بحماية معززة من اليونسكو، تستوجب صونها من أي اعتداء جوي أو مدفعي، وذلك عقب تعرض قلعة الشقيف في صور لأضرار كبيرة نتيجة القصف الإسرائيلي.
من جهة أخرى، يُعقد في مبنى البنتاغون اليوم الاجتماع العسكري الأول بين لبنان وإسرائيل، تمهيداً لاجتماع ثانٍ سيُعقد في الثاني من يونيو القادم.
وأفادت مصادر مطلعة بأن المسار الأمني يبدأ باجتماع بمشاركة تسعة ضباط من لبنان وإسرائيل، ويترأس الوفد اللبناني مدير العمليات في الجيش اللبناني العميد جورج رزق الله.
As attention turns to the American capital, Washington, where the Lebanese-Israeli security track talks will take place today (Friday), Israel has intensified its attacks on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Eyewitnesses reported that there was Israeli artillery shelling and airstrikes on the city of Nabatieh and the towns of Kfar Rumman, Shoukin, Mefidoun, and the Kfar Joz area in the Nabatieh district of southern Lebanon.
They noted that there were other airstrikes carried out by an Israeli drone on the towns of Tayr Dibba and Ma'roub in southern Lebanon.
The National News Agency reported that rescue teams from the Civil Defense managed to recover the bodies of two victims from the house targeted by Israeli planes in the town of Tayr Dibba in the Tyre district yesterday, confirming that the final toll has risen to two dead and five injured.
It also indicated that there were airstrikes on the main road between Tayr Dibba and Tyre near the Sharniya intersection, resulting in injuries.
The Lebanese Minister of Culture, Ghassan Salameh, condemned Israel's targeting of archaeological sites and heritage neighborhoods in southern Lebanon, affirming that he has informed his counterparts around the world and international organizations about the Israeli violations of archaeological sites.
He pointed out that a large number of these sites enjoy enhanced protection from UNESCO, which requires their preservation from any aerial or artillery attacks, following significant damage to the Shakif Castle in Tyre due to the Israeli bombardment.
On another note, the first military meeting between Lebanon and Israel will be held today at the Pentagon, in preparation for a second meeting that will take place on June 2nd.
Informed sources reported that the security track begins with a meeting involving nine officers from Lebanon and Israel, headed by the Lebanese delegation's head, Brigadier General George Rizkallah, the Director of Operations in the Lebanese Army.
