مَثُل رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، اليوم (الإثنين)، أمام المحكمة المركزية في تل أبيب، للرد على تهم الفساد الموجهة إليه، وذلك للمرة الـ89 التي يمثل فيها أمام المحكمة منذ بدء محاكمته.
ويستمر استجواب نتنياهو حاليًا في الملف 2000، بعد استكمال استجوابه في الملفين 1000 و4000 في الجلسات السابقة، حيث تأتي هذه الجلسة بعد فترة توقف جزئي بسبب الظروف الأمنية والحروب الإقليمية التي مرت بها إسرائيل.
ويواجه نتنياهو، الذي يُعد أول رئيس وزراء إسرائيلي يُحاكم وهو في منصبه، اتهامات بالرشوة والاحتيال وخيانة الأمانة في ثلاث قضايا رئيسية تتصدرها القضية المعروفة باسم «الملف 1000».
ويحاكم نتنياهو في قضية «الملف 1000» والمعروفة بقضية الهدايا، حيث يُتهم فيها نتنياهو وزوجته سارة بتلقي هدايا فاخرة سيجار وشمبانيا بقيمة تزيد عن 195 ألف دولار من رجلي أعمال، هما المنتج الهوليوودي أرنون ميلشان والملياردير الأسترالي جيمس باكر، مقابل تقديم تسهيلات وخدمات سياسية.
كما يحاكم في القضية المعروفة بالملف 2000 والتي تتعلق بمحادثات مع ناشر صحيفة «يديعوت أحرونوت» أرنون موزيس، حيث يُزعم أن نتنياهو حاول الحصول على تغطية إعلامية إيجابية مقابل تشريعات تضر بمنافستها «إسرائيل هيوم».
كما يحاكم في قضية الملف 4000 وهي القضية الأكبر التي يتهم فيه نتنياهو بمنح تسهيلات تنظيمية لشركة الاتصالات «بيزك» مقابل تغطية إيجابية على موقع «واللا» الإخباري التابع لها.
وبدأت المحاكمة الرئيسية في مايو 2020، وشهدت شهادات مئات الشهود، مع تقدم الادعاء بأدلة واسعة، ويصر نتنياهو على براءته، معتبرًا المحاكمة «مطاردة سياسية» و«انقلابًا قضائيًا» يهدف إلى إسقاطه.
وفي السياق السياسي الحالي، قدم نتنياهو طلب عفو إلى الرئيس الإسرائيلي إسحاق هرتسوج، لكن الأخير جمد المناقشات فيه، بعد عدم رد نتنياهو على مبادرة حوار لإيجاد حل توافقي، كما شهدت المحاكمة تأجيلات متكررة بسبب الحروب والأوضاع الأمنية.
وتشير تقديرات إسرائيلية إلى أن جلسات الاستماع لإفادة نتنياهو قد تقترب من نهايتها، مما يمهد لمرحلة الدفاع النهائي والحكم المتوقع في الأشهر أو السنوات القادمة، وسط تأثير كبير محتمل على مستقبله السياسي، خصوصاً مع اقتراب انتخابات محتملة.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared today (Monday) before the Central Court in Tel Aviv to respond to corruption charges against him, marking the 89th time he has stood before the court since his trial began.
Netanyahu is currently being questioned in Case 2000, after completing his questioning in Cases 1000 and 4000 in previous sessions. This session comes after a partial hiatus due to security conditions and regional wars that Israel has experienced.
Netanyahu, who is the first sitting Israeli Prime Minister to be tried, faces charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in three main cases, the most prominent of which is known as "Case 1000."
He is being tried in "Case 1000," known as the gifts case, where Netanyahu and his wife Sara are accused of receiving luxurious gifts, including cigars and champagne worth over $195,000 from two businessmen, Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan and Australian billionaire James Packer, in exchange for providing political favors and services.
He is also on trial in the case known as Case 2000, which involves conversations with the publisher of the newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth," Arnon Mozes, where it is alleged that Netanyahu attempted to secure positive media coverage in exchange for legislation that would harm its competitor, "Israel Hayom."
Additionally, he is being tried in Case 4000, which is the largest case in which Netanyahu is accused of granting regulatory benefits to the telecommunications company "Bezeq" in exchange for positive coverage on its affiliated news site, "Walla."
The main trial began in May 2020 and has seen testimonies from hundreds of witnesses, with the prosecution presenting extensive evidence. Netanyahu insists on his innocence, considering the trial a "political witch hunt" and a "judicial coup" aimed at ousting him.
In the current political context, Netanyahu submitted a request for pardon to Israeli President Isaac Herzog, but the latter has frozen discussions on it after Netanyahu did not respond to a dialogue initiative aimed at finding a compromise solution. The trial has also faced repeated delays due to wars and security situations.
Israeli estimates suggest that the hearings for Netanyahu's testimony may be nearing their end, paving the way for the final defense phase and the expected ruling in the coming months or years, amid significant potential impact on his political future, especially with potential elections approaching.
