توقعت وسائل إعلام كورية جنوبية وصول الرئيس الصيني شي جي بينغ إلى كوريا الشمالية في إطار مساعي بكين وبيونج يانج لتعزيز العلاقات التاريخية بينهما.
وقالت وكالة «يونهاب» الكورية الجنوبية للأنباء: «هناك احتمال كبير أن يزور شي جين بينغ كوريا الشمالية في أواخر هذا الشهر أو أوائل الشهر القادم»، موضحة أن فرق الأمن والبروتوكول الصينية زارت بيونج يانج أخيراً.
ورداً على سؤال من «بلومبيرغ» حول الزيارة المحتملة، قال مسؤول في مكتب الرئاسة الكورية الجنوبية إن الحكومة تراقب عن كثب التطورات ذات الصلة، مضيفاً: «نأمل أن تسير التبادلات بين كوريا الشمالية والصين بما يُسهم في تحقيق السلام والاستقرار في شبه الجزيرة الكورية، ونتوقع من الصين أن تلعب دوراً بنّاءً في قضايا شبه الجزيرة الكورية».
وهذه الزيارة إذا تمت، فستكون أول زيارة لشي إلى كوريا الشمالية منذ سبع سنوات، وذلك بعد حضور زعيم كوريا الشمالي كيم جونج العرض العسكري الصيني في سبتمبر من العام الماضي.
ومن المقرر أن يزور الرئيس الصربي الصين في الفترة من 24 إلى 28 مايو.
وتسعى كوريا الجنوبية إلى تحسين العلاقات مع كوريا الشمالية والمساعدة في ترتيب لقاء بين كيم جونج أون والرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، إلا أن بيونج يانج تجاهلت إلى حد كبير مبادرات حكومة سول، بينما تحث واشنطن على الاعتراف بكوريا الشمالية كقوة نووية.
South Korean media outlets have predicted that Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit North Korea as part of Beijing and Pyongyang's efforts to strengthen their historical ties.
The South Korean news agency "Yonhap" reported: "There is a high possibility that Xi Jinping will visit North Korea in late this month or early next month," explaining that Chinese security and protocol teams recently visited Pyongyang.
In response to a question from "Bloomberg" regarding the potential visit, an official from the South Korean presidential office stated that the government is closely monitoring related developments, adding: "We hope that exchanges between North Korea and China will contribute to achieving peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, and we expect China to play a constructive role in Korean Peninsula issues."
If this visit takes place, it will be Xi's first visit to North Korea in seven years, following North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's attendance at the Chinese military parade in September of last year.
The Serbian president is scheduled to visit China from May 24 to 28.
South Korea is seeking to improve relations with North Korea and assist in arranging a meeting between Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump; however, Pyongyang has largely ignored Seoul's initiatives, while Washington urges recognition of North Korea as a nuclear power.
