أعلنت متحدثة باسم البيت الأبيض، أن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب سيصل إلى العاصمة الصينية بكين، مساء (الأربعاء) القادم وسيلتقي نظيره الصيني شي جين بينج، لعقد قمة.
وقالت المتحدثة في تصريحات صحفية، إن زيارة ترمب إلى الصين ستشمل لقاءً ثنائياً مع شي، وغداء عمل قبل مغادرته يوم الجمعة، موضحة أن ترمب وشي سيناقشان قضايا الفضاء، والزراعة، والطاقة.
وأشارت المتحدثة إلى واشنطن وبكين ستعملان على إنشاء مجلس مشترك للتجارة ومجلس آخر للاستثمار، مبينة أن الرئيس ترمب يعتزم استضافة الرئيس الصيني في زيارة، خلال وقت لاحق من العام الجاري.
وتوقع مسؤول أمريكي كبير أن يناقش الرئيس الأمريكي مع نظيره الصيني دعم بكين لإيران وروسيا، إضافة إلى قضية الرسوم الجمركية، وأمن الذكاء الاصطناعي وكذلك اتفاق المعادن الأرضية النادرة بين الولايات المتحدة والصين الذي لا يزال ساري المفعول، وسيُعلن عن تمديده في الوقت المناسب.

وذكرت صحيفة «نيويورك تايمز»، أنه من المرجح أن يناقش ترمب وشي قضايا التجارة، بما في ذلك الاستثمارات المحتملة في بلديهما.
من جهة أخرى، أعلنت وزارة التجارة الصينية، أن نائب رئيس مجلس الدولة الصيني خه لي فنج سيرأس وفداً إلى كوريا الجنوبية، لإجراء محادثات تجارية مع مسؤولين أمريكيين يومي 12 و13 مايو الجاري، وبحسب بيان للوزارة فإن المحادثات ستركز على القضايا الاقتصادية والتجارية التي تهم الجانبين.
وأشار البيان إلى أن المباحثات تأتي في أعقاب التوافق الذي تسنى التوصل إليه خلال مكالمات هاتفية واجتماعات سابقة بين رئيسي البلدين، منها اجتماعهما في بوسان بكوريا الجنوبية في أكتوبر من العام الماضي.
A spokesperson for the White House announced that U.S. President Donald Trump will arrive in the Chinese capital, Beijing, on the evening of next Wednesday and will meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to hold a summit.
The spokesperson stated in press remarks that Trump's visit to China will include a bilateral meeting with Xi and a working lunch before his departure on Friday, explaining that Trump and Xi will discuss issues related to space, agriculture, and energy.
The spokesperson noted that Washington and Beijing will work on establishing a joint trade council and another council for investment, indicating that President Trump intends to host the Chinese president for a visit later this year.
A senior U.S. official expected that the U.S. president would discuss with his Chinese counterpart Beijing's support for Iran and Russia, in addition to the issue of tariffs, artificial intelligence security, as well as the rare earth minerals agreement between the United States and China, which is still in effect and will be announced for extension at the appropriate time.
The U.S. official said, "Trump will press China on Iran."
The New York Times reported that Trump and Xi are likely to discuss trade issues, including potential investments in their countries.
On another note, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that Vice Premier He Lifeng will head a delegation to South Korea to hold trade talks with U.S. officials on May 12 and 13. According to a statement from the ministry, the talks will focus on economic and trade issues of mutual concern.
The statement indicated that the discussions come in the wake of the consensus reached during previous phone calls and meetings between the two countries' leaders, including their meeting in Busan, South Korea, last October.
