وأوضحت المصادر أن الخطة تشمل نشر آلاف الجنود، ما يمنح واشنطن مرونة أكبر لتوسيع العمليات العسكرية، بما في ذلك تأمين مرور ناقلات النفط عبر مضيق هرمز، عبر جهود مشتركة للقوات الجوية والبحرية.
وأكدت المصادر، من بينهم مسؤولان أمريكيان، أن تأمين المضيق قد يتطلب نشر قوات على الساحل الإيراني، وهو خيار ينطوي على مخاطر ميدانية كبيرة.
كما تبحث الإدارة إمكانية إرسال قوات برية إلى جزيرة خارك، التي تمثل مركزاً لنحو 90% من صادرات النفط الإيرانية، مع تحذيرات من أن أي تحرك على الجزيرة سيواجه تهديدات مباشرة من الصواريخ والطائرات المسيّرة الإيرانية.
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is considering new military steps to enhance its presence in the Middle East, amid rising tensions with Iran and the war entering its third week, according to an American official and three sources familiar with the matter speaking to Reuters.
The sources indicated that the plan includes the deployment of thousands of soldiers, which would give Washington greater flexibility to expand military operations, including securing the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, through joint efforts of air and naval forces.
The sources, including two American officials, confirmed that securing the strait may require the deployment of forces on the Iranian coast, a option that carries significant battlefield risks.
The administration is also considering the possibility of sending ground troops to Khark Island, which represents a hub for about 90% of Iranian oil exports, with warnings that any move on the island would face direct threats from Iranian missiles and drones.
