أطلقت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية (سنتكوم) مهمة جديدة لنقل معتقلي تنظيم «داعش» من شمال شرق سورية إلى العراق، للمساعدة في ضمان بقاء الإرهابيين في مرافق احتجاز آمنة.
وبدأت عملية النقل بنجاح، إذ نقلت القوات الأمريكية 150 معتقلاً من تنظيم «داعش» كانوا محتجزين في أحد مرافق الاحتجاز في الحسكة بسورية، إلى موقع آمن في العراق.
ومن المتوقع نقل ما يصل إلى 7000 معتقل من «داعش» من سورية إلى مرافق خاضعة للسيطرة العراقية.
من جهته، قال قائد القيادة المركزية الأمريكية الأدميرال براد كوبر: «نحن ننسق بشكل وثيق مع الشركاء الإقليميين، بما في ذلك الحكومة العراقية، ونقدر دورهم الكبير في ضمان الهزيمة النهائية لداعش».
وتابع: «تسهيل نقل معتقلي داعش بشكل منظم وآمن أمر بالغ الأهمية لمنع أي هروب قد يشكل تهديداً مباشراً للولايات المتحدة والأمن الإقليمي».
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has launched a new mission to transfer ISIS detainees from northeastern Syria to Iraq, to help ensure that terrorists remain in secure detention facilities.
The transfer operation has successfully begun, with U.S. forces moving 150 ISIS detainees who were held in a detention facility in Hasakah, Syria, to a secure location in Iraq.
Up to 7,000 ISIS detainees are expected to be transferred from Syria to facilities under Iraqi control.
For his part, U.S. Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated: "We are closely coordinating with regional partners, including the Iraqi government, and we appreciate their significant role in ensuring the ultimate defeat of ISIS."
He added: "Facilitating the organized and secure transfer of ISIS detainees is crucial to preventing any escape that could pose a direct threat to the United States and regional security."
