فوجئت الساحة السياسية في باكستان اليوم (السبت) بتطور قضائي لافت، بعدما أصدرت محكمة حكماً بالسجن المشدد بحق رئيس الوزراء السابق عمران خان وزوجته، في قضية جديدة تضاف إلى سلسلة القضايا التي تلاحقه منذ إقالته من السلطة.
وذكرت قناة جيو نيوز الباكستانية أن المحكمة قضت بسجن عمران خان وزوجته بشرى بيبي 17 عاماً لكل منهما، على خلفية قضية فساد تتعلق بالتصرف في هدايا مقدمة للدولة بأقل من قيمتها الحقيقية.
وتشمل الأحكام الصادرة السجن 10 سنوات مع الأشغال الشاقة بموجب قانون العقوبات الباكستاني بتهمة خيانة الأمانة، إضافة إلى 7 سنوات بموجب قوانين مكافحة الفساد، إلى جانب فرض غرامات مالية بلغت 16.4 مليون روبية على كل منهما.
وقال محامي عائلة خان رانا مدثر عمر إن المحكمة أصدرت الحكم دون الاستماع إلى مرافعة الدفاع، مؤكداً أن القرار شمل عقوبات بالسجن والغرامات بحق الطرفين.
وتأتي هذه الإدانة في ظل استمرار احتجاز عمران خان منذ أغسطس 2023، حيث يواجه عشرات القضايا منذ إقالته من منصبه في أبريل 2022، تتنوع بين تهم فساد وإفشاء أسرار الدولة. وينفي خان ارتكاب أي مخالفات، بينما يصف حزبه تلك القضايا بأنها ذات دوافع سياسية.
وتُعد هذه القضية منفصلة عن ملف سابق يتعلق بهدايا الدولة، الذي ارتبط باعتقال خان في أغسطس الماضي. وعلى الرغم من وقف تنفيذ حكم سابق بسجنه 14 عاماً في أبريل الماضي، فإن الإدانة لا تزال قائمة.
ويواجه خان، البالغ من العمر 71 عاماً، أكثر من 200 قضية منظورة أمام المحاكم الباكستانية، كما سبق أن صدر حكم آخر بسجنه وزوجته 7 سنوات بتهمة مخالفة الشريعة، على خلفية زواجهما بعد فترة قصيرة من طلاق بشرى بيبي.
The political arena in Pakistan was surprised today (Saturday) by a notable judicial development, as a court issued a harsh prison sentence against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, in a new case added to the series of cases that have pursued him since his ousting from power.
Geo News reported that the court sentenced Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 17 years each, in connection with a corruption case involving the misappropriation of gifts presented to the state at less than their actual value.
The issued sentences include 10 years of hard labor under Pakistani penal law for breach of trust, in addition to 7 years under anti-corruption laws, along with financial fines amounting to 16.4 million rupees for each of them.
Khan's family lawyer, Rana Mudassar Omar, stated that the court issued the ruling without hearing the defense's arguments, confirming that the decision included prison sentences and fines against both parties.
This conviction comes amid Imran Khan's continued detention since August 2023, as he faces dozens of cases since his removal from office in April 2022, ranging from corruption charges to leaking state secrets. Khan denies any wrongdoing, while his party describes these cases as politically motivated.
This case is separate from a previous file related to state gifts, which was linked to Khan's arrest last August. Despite the suspension of a previous 14-year prison sentence in April, the conviction still stands.
Khan, who is 71 years old, faces over 200 cases pending before Pakistani courts, and a previous ruling has already sentenced him and his wife to 7 years for violating Sharia law, following their marriage shortly after Bushra Bibi's divorce.
