قتل 3 أشخاص وأصيب 5 آخرون في هجوم نفذه رجل يحمل سكيناً وسط تايبيه، اليوم (الجمعة)، قبل أن يلقى حتفه أثناء مطاردة الشرطة له بعد سقوطه من أحد المباني.

وأعلن رئيس الوزراء التايواني تشو جانغ-تاي، أن الرجل أطلق قنابل دخان بمحطة القطار الرئيسية في تايبيه ثم ركض إلى محطة مترو أنفاق قريبة بمنطقة تسوق مزدحمة وهاجم الناس في الطريق.
وقال في تصريح للصحفيين إن المهاجم المشتبه به كان لديه سجل إجرامي ومذكرات توقيف معلقة، وتم تفتيش منزله، مضيفاً: «سنقوم بالتحقيق في خلفيته وعلاقاته لفهم دوافعه وتحديد ما إذا كانت هناك عوامل أخرى مرتبطة بالحادثة»، فيما عرف الرجل باسمه الأخير فقط، وهو تشانغ.
ولفت رئيس الوزراء إلى أن المهاجم كان يحمل على الأرجح مواد قابلة للاشتعال مثل قنابل البنزين التي احترقت في موقع الحادثة إلى جانب قنابل الدخان، وكان يرتدي ما يبدو أنها درع واقية للجسم وقناعاً.
Three people were killed and five others were injured in an attack carried out by a man wielding a knife in downtown Taipei today (Friday), before he met his end during a police chase after falling from one of the buildings.

The Taiwanese Prime Minister, Su Tseng-chang, announced that the man set off smoke bombs at the main train station in Taipei and then ran to a nearby subway station in a crowded shopping area, attacking people along the way.
He stated in a press conference that the suspected attacker had a criminal record and outstanding arrest warrants, and his home was searched, adding: "We will investigate his background and connections to understand his motives and determine if there are other factors related to the incident," while the man was only identified by his last name, Chang.
The Prime Minister noted that the attacker was likely carrying flammable materials such as gasoline bombs that ignited at the scene of the incident, along with the smoke bombs, and was wearing what appeared to be body armor and a mask.
