غيب الموت المؤرخ الرياضي السعودي عضو مؤسسة عكاظ للصحافة والنشر الدكتور أمين ساعاتي، أحد أبرز رواد التوثيق الرياضي في المملكة، وأول من أصدر كتاباً رياضياً سعودياً بعنوان (الاتحاد في التاريخ) عام 1382هـ، وكرّس حياته للتأريخ وللحركة الرياضية عبر مؤلفات مهمة تُعدّ مرجعاً للأجيال.
ويُعد الفقيد من الأسماء البارزة في المشهدين الرياضي والإعلامي، حيث ألّف عدداً من الكتب المتخصصة أبرزها موسوعته الكبرى (موسوعة الحركة الرياضية في المملكة العربية السعودية)، التي صدرت عام 1419هـ في ثمانية أجزاء، إلى جانب مؤلفات أخرى وثّق فيها تاريخ الأندية والصحافة الرياضية والبيئة الاجتماعية في جدة.
ولد الدكتور أمين ساعاتي في حي العلوي بمدينة جدة عام 1945م (1364هـ)، وحصل على درجة البكالوريوس في الاقتصاد من جامعة الملك عبدالعزيز، كما نال درجة الدكتوراه في الإدارة العامة والعلاقات الدولية من جامعة كليرمونت في الولايات المتحدة عام 1981م.
بدأ مسيرته الإعلامية محرراً رياضياً في صحيفة «عكاظ»، ثم تولّى منصب رئيس القسم الرياضي، فمديراً للتحرير، حتى أصبح نائب رئيس تحرير الصحيفة، ثم عمل رئيسا لتحرير صحيفة النادي، وكان له دور كبير في تطوير الصحافة الرياضية خلال خلال عدة عقود.

ونعى رئيس تحرير صحيفة النادي السابق الزميل محمد البكيري قائلاً: «رحم الله الدكتور والباحث وعميد المؤرخين الرياضيين أمين ساعاتي الذي أسهب في توثيق تاريخ الحركة الرياضية. وأكثر من حفظ تاريخ عميد الأندية السعودية نادي الاتحاد من خلال عدة كتب. ونسأل الله أن يغفر له ويدخله فسيح جناته. وخالص العزاء لأشقائه وأبنائه وأسرة آل الساعاتي».
من جانبه، نعى رئيس تحرير صحيفة الكأس حسين أبوتاكي بقوله: «فقدت الساحة الرياضية أحد أعمدتها في التوثيق والتأريخ.. رحم الله الدكتور أمين ساعاتي، الذي كرّس حياته لحفظ تاريخ الرياضة السعودية بكل إخلاص. نسأل الله أن يتغمّده بواسع رحمته، ويلهم أهله وذويه ومحبيه الصبر والسلوان».
كما نعى رئيس نادي الشباب السابق محمد النويصر الفقيد، قائلاً: «رحم الله أمين ساعاتي. دعائي له بالمغفرة والرحمة وعزائي لذويه ومحبيه.. فقدنا مؤرخاً ورياضياً قديراً».
ونعى الإعلامي الرياضي محمد الشيخ بمنشور: «رحم الله الدكتور أمين ساعاتي.. رحل مخلفاً إرثاً إنسانياً وأكاديمياً ورياضياً زاخراً.. إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون».
ونعى منصور الدوس بمنشور: «رحم الله الدكتور أمين ساعاتي، أحد أبرز رموز التوثيق والتأريخ الرياضي في المملكة العربية السعودية، وصاحب البصمات الخالدة في حفظ وأرشفة تاريخ الحركة الرياضية السعودية منذ عام 1962م. خالص العزاء لأسرته الكريمة.. إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون».
"عكاظ" التي آلمها النبأ تتقدم بخالص التعازي والمواساة لذوي الفقيد، سائلة الله أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته ويسكنه فسيح جناته إنالله وإنا إليه راجعون.

The death of Saudi sports historian and member of the Okaz Press and Publishing Foundation, Dr. Amin Sa'ati, has been announced. He was one of the most prominent pioneers of sports documentation in the Kingdom and the first to publish a Saudi sports book titled "Al-Ittihad in History" in 1382 AH. He dedicated his life to documenting and promoting sports through important works that serve as references for generations.
The deceased is considered one of the notable names in both the sports and media scenes, having authored several specialized books, the most prominent of which is his comprehensive encyclopedia "Encyclopedia of Sports Movement in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," published in 1419 AH in eight volumes, along with other works that documented the history of clubs, sports journalism, and the social environment in Jeddah.
Dr. Amin Sa'ati was born in the Al-Alawi neighborhood of Jeddah in 1945 (1364 AH) and obtained a bachelor's degree in economics from King Abdulaziz University. He also earned a Ph.D. in public administration and international relations from Claremont University in the United States in 1981.
He began his media career as a sports editor at the "Okaz" newspaper, then took on the role of head of the sports section, followed by managing editor, until he became deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper. He later served as editor-in-chief of Al-Nadi newspaper and played a significant role in the development of sports journalism over several decades.

The former editor-in-chief of Al-Nadi newspaper, Mohammed Al-Buqiri, mourned him, saying: "May Allah have mercy on Dr. Amin Sa'ati, the researcher and dean of sports historians who elaborated on documenting the history of the sports movement. He preserved the history of the dean of Saudi clubs, Al-Ittihad, through several books. We ask Allah to forgive him and grant him a place in His vast paradise. My sincere condolences to his brothers, children, and the Al-Sa'ati family."
For his part, the editor-in-chief of Al-Kass newspaper, Hussein Abutaki, expressed his condolences, stating: "The sports arena has lost one of its pillars in documentation and history. May Allah have mercy on Dr. Amin Sa'ati, who dedicated his life to preserving the history of Saudi sports with utmost sincerity. We ask Allah to envelop him in His vast mercy and grant patience and solace to his family, relatives, and loved ones."
The former president of Al-Shabab Club, Mohammed Al-Nuwaiser, also mourned the deceased, saying: "May Allah have mercy on Amin Sa'ati. My prayers for him are for forgiveness and mercy, and my condolences to his family and loved ones. We have lost a capable historian and athlete."
Sports journalist Mohammed Al-Sheikh posted: "May Allah have mercy on Dr. Amin Sa'ati. He has left behind a rich human, academic, and sports legacy. Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him, we shall return."
Also, Mansour Al-Dos mourned him in a post: "May Allah have mercy on Dr. Amin Sa'ati, one of the most prominent symbols of sports documentation and history in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a person who left a lasting mark in preserving and archiving the history of the Saudi sports movement since 1962. My sincere condolences to his esteemed family. Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him, we shall return."
