فقدت الساحة الإعلامية السعودية أحد أعمدتها البارزين، بوفاة رئيس تحرير صحيفة المدينة الأسبق الإعلامي أسامة أحمد السباعي، أحد رواد الصحافة الذين كان لهم إسهام بارز في تطوير المهنة وتأهيل أجيال من الإعلاميين، وذلك بعد أن وافته المنية أمس (الجمعة).
وستُقام الصلاة عليه بعد صلاة فجر اليوم السبت في الحرم المكي، ويُوارى جثمانه في مكة المكرمة.
يُعد السباعي من الشخصيات المؤثرة في تاريخ الإعلام بالمملكة، إذ شغل مناصب عدة مهمة، من أبرزها رئاسة تحرير مجلة «اقرأ» وصحيفة «المدينة».
وهو حاصل على درجة الماجستير في الصحافة من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، وينتمي إلى أسرة إعلامية عريقة، فهو نجل الأديب الرائد وشيخ الصحفيين أحمد السباعي، وشقيق الدكتور زهير السباعي.
ويترك الراحل خلفه أبناءه: المهندس ياسر، المهندس أحمد، الدكتورة ميساء (طبيبة أسنان)، والدكتورة ميسون الحاصلة على الدكتوراه في الإعلام.
يُستقبل العزاء في منزله بحي النعيم في جدة، بدءاً من يوم السبت 19 ذي القعدة 1446هـ، الموافق 16 مايو 2025م، ولمدة ثلاثة أيام.
«عكاظ» التي آلمها النبأ تتقدم بخالص العزاء لذوي الفقيد، سائلة الله أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته ويسكنه فسيح جناته، إنّا لله وإنّا إليه راجعون.

The Saudi media landscape has lost one of its prominent pillars with the passing of former editor-in-chief of Al-Madina newspaper, journalist Osama Ahmed Al-Sebaei, a pioneer in journalism who made significant contributions to the development of the profession and the training of generations of journalists, after he passed away yesterday (Friday).
The funeral prayer will be held after the Fajr prayer today, Saturday, at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, and his body will be laid to rest in Mecca.
Al-Sebaei is considered one of the influential figures in the history of media in the Kingdom, having held several important positions, most notably as the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Iqra" and Al-Madina newspaper.
He holds a master's degree in journalism from the United States of America and comes from a prestigious media family, being the son of the pioneering writer and Sheikh of journalists Ahmed Al-Sebaei, and the brother of Dr. Zuhair Al-Sebaei.
The deceased leaves behind his children: engineer Yasser, engineer Ahmed, Dr. Maysa (a dentist), and Dr. Maysoun, who holds a PhD in media.
Condolences will be received at his home in the Al-Naeem neighborhood in Jeddah, starting from Saturday, 19 Dhu al-Qi'dah 1446 AH, corresponding to May 16, 2025, for a period of three days.
"Okaz," which is saddened by the news, extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, asking God to envelop him in His vast mercy and grant him a place in His spacious gardens. Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.
