أعلنت وزارة الدفاع القطرية، اليوم (الإثنين)، افتتاح مركز القيادة المشترك للدفاع الجوي مع الولايات المتحدة في قاعدة «العديد» الجوية.
وكتبت الوزارة، على حسابها في«X»: «رئيس أركان القوات المسلحة القطرية جاسم المناعي، وقائد القيادة المركزية الأمريكية تشارلز برادفورد كوبر، افتتحا مركز القيادة المشترك للدفاع الجوي (CCP)».
بدورها، ذكرت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية أنها افتتحت أول مركز قيادة مشترك للدفاع الجوي في الشرق الأوسط مع قطر في «العديد».
وقال قائد القيادة المركزية الأمريكية، في بيان إن «العلاقات العسكرية مع قطر أقوى من أي وقت مضى، وسيعزز مركز القيادة المشترك الجديد للدفاع الجوي التعاون الأمني الإقليمي، اليوم وخلال الأشهر والسنوات القادمة».
وكانت وكالة الأنباء القطرية (قنا) قد أكدت اليوم استقبال رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن، قائد القيادة المركزية الأمريكية تشارلز كوبر، موضحة أن الطرفين استعرضا العلاقات الإستراتيجية الوثيقة بين قطر والولايات المتحدة، وسبل دعمها وتعزيزها، لا سيما في مجالات التعاون العسكري والدفاعي، إضافة إلى عدد من الموضوعات ذات الاهتمام المشترك.
وتُعد قاعدة «العديد» الجوية، أكبر منشأة عسكرية أمريكية في الشرق الأوسط، ووفقاً لشبكة «سي إن إن» فإن القاعدة تضم أكثر من 10 آلاف جندي أمريكي.
The Qatari Ministry of Defense announced today (Monday) the opening of the Joint Air Defense Operations Center with the United States at the Al Udeid Air Base.
The ministry wrote on its account on "X": "The Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, Jassim Al-Manaei, and the Commander of the U.S. Central Command, Charles Bradford Cooper, inaugurated the Joint Air Defense Operations Center (CCP)."
For its part, the U.S. Central Command stated that it has opened the first Joint Air Defense Operations Center in the Middle East with Qatar at Al Udeid.
The Commander of the U.S. Central Command said in a statement that "military relations with Qatar are stronger than ever, and the new Joint Air Defense Operations Center will enhance regional security cooperation today and in the months and years to come."
The Qatari News Agency (QNA) confirmed today that the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman received U.S. Central Command Commander Charles Cooper, noting that the two sides reviewed the close strategic relations between Qatar and the United States and ways to support and enhance them, particularly in the areas of military and defense cooperation, in addition to several topics of mutual interest.
Al Udeid Air Base is the largest U.S. military facility in the Middle East, and according to CNN, the base hosts more than 10,000 American soldiers.
