في أعقاب اختراق مُسيرات مناطق عسكرية في البلاد، كشف وزير الدفاع البلجيكي ثيو فرانكن اليوم (الأحد) تحقيقات تجريها الشرطة في بلجيكا بعد ورود بلاغات عن مشاهدة طائرة مسيرة فوق قاعدة جوية عسكرية.
وكتب فرانكن عبر حسابه في «إكس» أن الحكومة تلقت بلاغات أمس (السبت) عن تحليق طائرات مسيرة فوق قاعدة كلاين بروجل الجوية في شمال شرق بلجيكا، موضحاً أن طائرة هليكوبتر ومركبات للشرطة لاحقت المسيّرة لكن لم تتمكن من إسقاطها، ولم يتمكن جهاز للتشويش على الطائرات المسيرة من توقيفها.
استهداف كلاين بروجل
وأضاف فرانكن: «لم يكن مجرد تحليق، بل كان أمراً واضحاً يستهدف كلاين بروجل». جاء ذلك فيما أكد متحدث باسم مكتب فرانكن أن الشرطة تحقق في الواقعة، والحكومة ستناقش هذه المشاهدات هذا الأسبوع.
وكان فرانكن قد دعا الحكومة البلجيكية إلى تعزيز الإنفاق على الدفاعات المضادة للطائرات المسيرة.
وشهدت دول حلف شمال الأطلسي حالة تأهب قصوى في الأسابيع الماضية بعد مشاهدة طائرات مسيرة وتوغلات جوية أخرى، بما في ذلك في مطارات في كوبنهاغن وميونيخ ومنطقة البلطيق.
ودخلت نحو 20 طائرة مسيرة روسية المجال الجوي البولندي في سبتمبر الماضي.
واقترحت المفوضية الأوروبية الشهر الماضي 4 مشاريع دفاعية أوروبية، ومنها نظام مضاد للطائرات المسيرة وخطة لتحصين الحدود الشرقية مع روسيا، في إطار حملة لجعل القارة مستعدة للدفاع عن نفسها بحلول عام 2030.
In the wake of drones breaching military areas in the country, Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken revealed today (Sunday) that investigations are being conducted by the police in Belgium following reports of a drone sighting over a military airbase.
Francken wrote on his account on "X" that the government received reports yesterday (Saturday) about drones flying over the Kleine Brogel airbase in northeastern Belgium, explaining that a helicopter and police vehicles pursued the drone but were unable to bring it down, and a device intended to jam drones could not stop it.
Targeting Kleine Brogel
Francken added: "It was not just flying; it was clearly an act targeting Kleine Brogel." This came as a spokesperson for Francken's office confirmed that the police are investigating the incident, and the government will discuss these sightings this week.
Francken had previously called on the Belgian government to increase spending on counter-drone defenses.
NATO countries have been on high alert in recent weeks following sightings of drones and other aerial incursions, including at airports in Copenhagen, Munich, and the Baltic region.
About 20 Russian drones entered Polish airspace last September.
Last month, the European Commission proposed four European defense projects, including a counter-drone system and a plan to fortify the eastern borders with Russia, as part of an effort to prepare the continent to defend itself by 2030.
