أعلن جهاز مكافحة الإرهاب في العراق، أمس (الأحد)، إحباط مخطط إرهابي لاستهداف محافظ كركوك.
وأوضح الجهاز في بيان أن «عملية استخباراتية دقيقة استمرت عدة أشهر، تضمنت القضاء على اثنين من عناصر تنظيم داعش الإرهابي، وتفريغ هواتفهما، وتحليل المعلومات المستخلصة منها».
وأضاف، أن «مفارز الجهاز، بالتنسيق مع القوات ومديرية مكافحة الإرهاب في السليمانية، تمكنت من إحباط مخطط إرهابي يستهدف محافظ كركوك بتفجير دراجة نارية مفخخة في أحد الأحياء السكنية بمحافظة كركوك».
وأشار إلى أن «الدراجة المفخخة تم ضبطها وتفكيكها دون وقوع أي خسائر، قبل أن يتم تفجيرها في مكان آمن».
The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service announced yesterday (Sunday) the thwarting of a terrorist plot targeting the Governor of Kirkuk.
The service clarified in a statement that "a precise intelligence operation lasted several months, which included eliminating two members of the ISIS terrorist organization, extracting data from their phones, and analyzing the information obtained from them."
It added that "the service's units, in coordination with the forces and the Directorate of Counter-Terrorism in Sulaymaniyah, were able to thwart a terrorist plot targeting the Governor of Kirkuk by detonating a booby-trapped motorcycle in one of the residential neighborhoods in Kirkuk province."
It pointed out that "the booby-trapped motorcycle was seized and dismantled without any casualties, before it was detonated in a safe location."
