حذّر وزير الدفاع الباكستاني خواجة محمد آصف، اليوم (السبت)، من اندلاع حرب مفتوحة مع أفغانستان، إذا لم تُسفر المحادثات الجارية بين البلدين في مدينة إسطنبول التركية عن نتائج إيجابية.
وقال آصف للصحفيين: «من المتوقع إعلان نتائج المناقشات قريباً»، مضيفاً: «عقدتُ اجتماعاً مع مسؤولين أفغان قبل ساعتين، وستتضح النتائج غداً».
وأشار إلى أن «السلطات الأفغانية إذا لم تحسم الأمور فستكون هناك حرب، الخيار لنا؛ أما خياركم فهو حرب مفتوحة»، مبيناً أن المحادثات بين باكستان وأفغانستان استؤنفت أخيراً لتسوية المخاوف الحدودية والأمنية، وأن هناك تفاؤلاً كبيراً.
جولة محادثات
وعُقدت الجولة الأولى من المناقشات في قطر، بوساطة شركاء إقليميين، ولا تزال العملية مستمرة، ووصل وفدان من باكستان وأفغانستان إلى العاصمة الدوحة السبت الماضي، على أمل نزع فتيل أعنف أزمة بينهما منذ عدة سنوات، بعد قرابة مرور أسبوع على اشتباكات حدودية أسفرت عن سقوط العشرات وإصابة المئات من الجانبين.
وفي سياق آخر، اتهم وزير الدفاع الباكستاني الهند بخوض حرب بالوكالة عبر أفغانستان، زاعماً أن نيودلهي تُواصل استخدام الأراضي الأفغانية لزعزعة استقرار باكستان.
الهند تقاتل بأفغانستان
وقال آصف: «لقد خضنا حرباً مباشرة مع الهند من قبل، والآن تُقاتلنا عبر أفغانستان، لكن جنودنا الشجعان مُستعدون في أي لحظة لحماية البلاد»، موضحاً أن «قوات الأمن والشرطة والجيش الباكستانية تُشارك بنشاط في مكافحة الإرهاب في جميع أنحاء البلاد، خصوصاً على طول الحدود الغربية التي أصبحت آمنة وننام بسلام».
Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif warned today (Saturday) of the outbreak of an open war with Afghanistan if the ongoing talks between the two countries in Istanbul, Turkey do not yield positive results.
Asif told reporters, "The results of the discussions are expected to be announced soon," adding, "I had a meeting with Afghan officials two hours ago, and the results will be clear tomorrow."
He indicated that "if the Afghan authorities do not resolve the issues, there will be war; the choice is ours; your choice is an open war," explaining that talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan have recently resumed to address border and security concerns, and there is great optimism.
Round of Talks
The first round of discussions was held in Qatar, mediated by regional partners, and the process is still ongoing. Delegations from Pakistan and Afghanistan arrived in the Qatari capital last Saturday, hoping to defuse the most severe crisis between them in several years, following nearly a week of border clashes that resulted in dozens of casualties and hundreds injured on both sides.
In another context, the Pakistani Defense Minister accused India of waging a proxy war through Afghanistan, claiming that New Delhi continues to use Afghan territory to destabilize Pakistan.
India Fights in Afghanistan
Asif stated, "We have fought a direct war with India before, and now they are fighting us through Afghanistan, but our brave soldiers are ready at any moment to protect the country," clarifying that "the security forces, police, and army of Pakistan are actively participating in combating terrorism throughout the country, especially along the western border, which has become secure and we sleep peacefully."
