كشفت صحيفة «نيويورك تايمز» وجود قلق داخل إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترمب من احتمال انسحاب رئيس وزراء الاحتلال الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو من اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار في غزة، الذي بدأ سريانه في العاشر من شهر أكتوبر الجاري.
ونقلت الصحيفة عن مسؤولين أمريكيين قولهم: «إن إدارة الرئيس ترمب تعمل على منع نتنياهو من استئناف الحرب عبر جهود يبذلها نائب الرئيس جيه دي فانس والمبعوثان ستيف ويتكوف وجاريد كوشنر».
وأفاد مسؤول في البيت الأبيض بأن ترمب يعتقد حاليا أن قادة حركة حماس مستعدون لمواصلة المفاوضات بحسن نية، وأن الهجوم على الجنود نفذته عناصر غير ملتزمة بتعليمات قادة حماس.
وأفصحت الصحيفة أن ترمب تحدث عن «تمرد» داخل حماس لا يمثل قيادة التنظيم قائلا: إن بعض مقاتلي حماس «لديهم نشاط زائد»، لكنه أكد أن الولايات المتحدة ستسمح لإسرائيل بالقضاء على حماس إذا لم تلتزم باتفاق وقف إطلاق النار.
من جانب آخر، شن جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي سلسلة من الغارات استهدفت مواقع مختلفة من قطاع غزة، أمس الأول زاعما أنها جاءت ردا على مقتل جنديين وإصابة آخر في هجوم اتهم حماس بتنفيذه.
ونقلت «نيويورك تايمز»عن مسؤول أمريكي كبير قوله إن ويتكوف وكوشنر يقران بأن الوضع حساس للغاية، وأن اتفاق غزة معرض لخطر الانهيار.
وفي 10 أكتوبر الجاري، دخل اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار حيز التنفيذ وفق خطة ترمب التي تقوم إلى جانب وقف الحرب، على انسحاب متدرج للجيش الإسرائيلي وإطلاق متبادل للأسرى ودخول فوري للمساعدات إلى القطاع.
وحسب صحيفة «واشنطن بوست»، فإن نائب ترمب سيبحث مع نتنياهو خلال زيارته إلى إسرائيل المرحلة التالية من خطة وقف إطلاق النار، ونشر قوة متعددة الجنسيات بالقطاع ونزع سلاح حماس.
وذكرت القناة 12 الإسرائيلية أن ويتكوف وكوشنر أبلغا أمس نتنياهو أن بإمكانه الدفاع عن النفس دون تعريض اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار في قطاع غزة للخطر.
The "New York Times" revealed that there is concern within President Donald Trump's administration about the possibility of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu withdrawing from the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which came into effect on October 10.
The newspaper quoted American officials saying: "The Trump administration is working to prevent Netanyahu from resuming the war through efforts made by Vice President J.D. Vance and envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner."
A White House official stated that Trump currently believes that Hamas leaders are willing to continue negotiations in good faith, and that the attack on the soldiers was carried out by elements not adhering to the instructions of Hamas leaders.
The newspaper disclosed that Trump spoke of a "rebellion" within Hamas that does not represent the leadership of the organization, saying that some Hamas fighters "have excessive activity," but he emphasized that the United States would allow Israel to eliminate Hamas if it does not adhere to the ceasefire agreement.
On another note, the Israeli occupation army launched a series of airstrikes targeting various sites in the Gaza Strip the day before yesterday, claiming they were in response to the killing of two soldiers and the injury of another in an attack that Hamas was accused of carrying out.
The "New York Times" quoted a senior American official saying that Witkoff and Kushner acknowledge that the situation is extremely sensitive and that the Gaza agreement is at risk of collapsing.
On October 10, the ceasefire agreement came into effect according to Trump's plan, which includes, in addition to stopping the war, a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army, mutual release of prisoners, and immediate entry of aid into the sector.
According to the "Washington Post," Trump's deputy will discuss with Netanyahu during his visit to Israel the next phase of the ceasefire plan, the deployment of a multinational force in the sector, and the disarmament of Hamas.
Channel 12 in Israel reported that Witkoff and Kushner informed Netanyahu yesterday that he could defend himself without jeopardizing the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
